REM atonia or SP?

I cant access the SP tutorial,so

How do I know that when I have had SP that sometimes its not REM atonia?(not sure what that is either)

I am quite new to all these terms so am thinking that i may have some of this all wrong?

When I am in SP and am fully aware of it and do not lucid or vivid dream, could this be REM atonia?

I may have been mistaken to think that I had SP thus the panic and sudden waking up with no dream memory other than the SP?

Not sure if this makes sence?

The pressure noise I experience and drifting feeling occurs before I vivid/lucid dream or if I just go into SP only?

REM atonia is the paralysis of your body during REM sleep.

If you are experiencing sleep paralysis, you are experiencing that atonia outside of REM sleep periods. So, if you are awake, but paralyzed, you are in SP. If you are in REM sleep and paralyzed, you are under REM atonia but either asleep or in a dream so you wouldn't actually be experiencing it, you wouldn't really be aware of it.

For the average person, anything besides the actual paralysis itself is a hypnagogic or hypnopompic hallucination. All those weird feelings and sounds and imagery and etc.

Thanks for clearing that up!

So what you are also saying is hallusinations during SP are controlable,and the LD during SP is a controled hallucination!

Or perhaps you meant that if i have SP with no LD and just lay there looking out into the room,that is an hallusination!

The majority of the hallucinations do not seem to be that intricate and encompassing, unless it is an actual dream hallucination and you've passed into sleep.

They are not really controllable, they are just experienced, but controlling yourself (and primarily your fear) seems to be able to change the course of the hallucinations experienced during SP. If you are to the point where you are actively controlling them, then it's likely you've already started a dream.

I will point out that I am not the most experienced WILDer around so I don't have a wealth of first-hand experience to contribute, and that there is little to no research on hypnagogia accompanying SP during a WILD, so really I can't say much more than what I've read on the general HH experienced alongside SP. But what I've said above seems to be the general trend and the only bits written up in papers so far that I've been able to come across.
