Night terror
Hi,
I'm a first time usere here and I do hope that someone can help me please.
This morning I had a night terror where I was standing at my kitchen sink and I had this urge to cut my forearms with a carving knife.
I know that this is not what I want to do, though in my dream i was sposed to do it.
I woke with feelings of fright and confusion.
Can anyone interperate this.
Cheers
Rovina.

.. that you don't have control over your dreams/subconsiousness? :P
You might say that perhaps the dream reflects some repressed memories/emotions/etc in your real life and that is so.
learning to lucid dream will help you overcome nightmares- since I started lucid dreaming I've had zero true nightmares, just maybe action dreams and also some dreams were maybe a bit scary but I was always turn the tide to my advantage.

no one can interperate your dream but yourself. Your the only one who could know what it means.
But yuriythebest is right, LD can help with nightmares. This is the main reason why I want to learn it too.
If you had control in your dreams you could find out the true meaning behind the things that happen in a dream.

It sounds like maybe someone in your life is forcing you to do something you don't want to do. It doesn't necessarily have to do with you hurting yourself. Or it could simply be something you heard in the news, in a movie, or simply your imagination. I always believed that while dream interpretation can be accurate, sometimes there is no meaning for it. Remember, some dreams have no possible explanations or meaning at all :P. The mind is a crazed piece of god's (or whatever you believe in's) work. It can create, mix, replicate, duplicate, etc, any or every situation possible, lol. Like yuri said, lucid dreaming can completely eliminate nightmares, or at least greatly reduce them.

I'm not big on finding meaning in dreams, but if you can remember and post the events in the dream previous to the moment your sere going to self mutilate, I can probably explain it logically.
Don't let it bother you. I've had dreams where I cut off my own penis! I was at a party, everyone else was doing it, you know how it goes.;)

The Cusp: o.0
Anyways... I wouldn't read too much into it, unless it's a recurring dream/theme in your dreams. If that's the case, you may want to step back and look at your life/relationships/etc. Chances are it was just a regular nightmare though. And like Yuri, I've also found that LDing has caused me to have less nightmares. I became lucid during the last nightmare I had, and in a dream after that I became lucid as it started to become nightmare-ish.
