Sleep pattern
hey,
i'm obviously new here
anyway, i have a simple question about my sleep pattern
REM... there are stages required to reach it, to vivid dream... well i'm absolutely out of that loop, i will lay my head down on my pillow, bedtime, instantly i can dream, i may only be asleep for 5 minutes and have a full on detailed movie length of a dream/nightmare and wake up. but my general point is i seem to dream instantly and all night long, if i dont wake till morning, all dreams lead into the other so i can't remember everthing.
so is dreaming straight away normal? is it possible?
i'm studying psych and i wish we would get to talking about sleep it would really help me. lol

well since this is happening to you then it must be :)
though generally for everyone including me the dreams start after several hours of sleep

Dreaming straight away when you go to bed isn´t normal I think, at least not in the evening. If you take a nap in the morning however you can slip into a dream straight away.
The sleep cycles is normally 90 minutes with little REM sleep in the first sleep cycles, only a few minutes, and more REM towards the morning.
I don´t think it´s possible to dream all night long though, your body needs the deep non-dream sleep to recover. You seem to be a special case though, congrats! :)

yeah, the whole recover thing would make sence... but also i say it just seems like i'm dreaming all night. but time is also irelevant when it comes to tracking your dreams.
but dreaming straight away is definatly something that happens to me, the only reason i know this 100% is that my boyfriend (ex now) said that i would instantly start twitching and mumbling in my sleep and the stuff he says that i said while mumbling always makes me remember a dream that i had.
i also find that i need atleast 10-11 hours of sleep to even feel anywhere near rested enough for another day
