Sounds like you were in sleep paralysis not dreaming. |

The other day I had my first lucid dream (using WILD). I dreamed I was lying in my bed and realized because my hands were blurry and the numbers on my clock were changing. I could barely move any part of my body and it felt like I was still paralyzed in my dream. After a while I woke up. |

How could you see your hands if you couldn't move? Were you already in a position to see your hands? Maybe you were dreaming, but as JP said it sounds like you were in sleep paralysis, the paralyzed state your body goes into every time you sleep so that you don't act out your dreams. It sometimes malfunctions and keeps you paralyzed for a few seconds after you wake up or before you fall asleep. Many people report hallucinating during sleep paralysis, so that might explain the changing clock and the blurriness. Or your hands might have appeared blurry because, when you open your eyes for the first time in the morning, things just tend to look blurry. |

i had this same exact problem when i had my first lucid dream. it was very uncomfortable and i knew i was dreaming because i looked at my digital clock and it was just a bunch of symbols. i eventually made myself wake up. i don't think you can really prevent this. i had 3 lucids after that dream and was able to move just fine, so i wouldn't worry about it too much unless it keeps happening. |
