Wow, mindset really does make a huge difference

Since I came across this site (only a few days now) I've been really intrigued by the thought of Lucid Dreams. The first few nights, I didn't really think much about it as I was going to sleep, and, like I have for the past few months, I didn't remember a single dream from the night, not even when I woke up. Then last night, I went to sleep with the mind set that I WOULD have a dream and I WOULD remember it when I woke up. And I did have a dream that I remember when I woke up. I forgot to write it down in my dream journal, but it really has me more motivated to continue trying. Now I place a sheet of paper with a pen next to it over top of my glasses so I can't forget to write my dreams down when I first wake up (the first thing I always do when I wake up is put on my glasses, so instead I'll feel the paper, and remember)

I know, while I've had limited success with lucidity, I've been having consistently great, memorable dreams. And yep, if I ever stop remembering, I just tell myself that I WILL remember my dreams, and, voila, it works.

Not only that, but writing in a dream journal will help tremendously as well. I could barely remember details of one dream before I started writing, but now I can recall many details of several dreams each night.

Everyone here has hit it right on the money, I think. Keeping a DJ is highly important and I think you'll find the more dreams you write in it and the more details you include, the more dreams you will remember and the more details about them you will recall!

Having good dream recall goes both ways. If you can remember your thoughts and experiences from dreams in waking life, your goals and techniques from waking life should be recalled during your LDs.

Yes, motivation is huge. Journaling and setting intention "I will remember my dreams, I will awaken after dreams to record them" has gotten me from "sleeping through the night" (we all arouse between dreams but most don't remember this) remembering one dream every once in a rare while to 4 awakenings with 17 dreams + fragments last night! And all that within about 12 days since I started. The *very first night* I set the intention to remember and put the journal by my table I recorded a few dreams.

One big benefit of LD training / practice is gaining confidence in ourselves and using parts of our brain that were previously unused/on auto-pilot.

Dreams are funny, exilharating, weird, and endlessly variable, even with lucidity (and I'm absolutely shooting for lucidity) it's a great addition to life to remember your dreams!
