I usually leave my pc on standby when i go to bed.
is it a good idea to start writing my dream journals in there?
it just seems more easy with no limit of paper running out and no potential erasing smudges, which happens frequent when i just wake up and I'm half asleep.:roll:
Well I guess that's up to personal preference ^^ What I like about my dream journal book is that I won't have to leave the bed and can just quickly scribble some keywords or short descriptions of the dream down. I don't know if you'd become a tad too awake when getting up to sit infront of a monitor? Haven't tried it myself to wouldn't know really :D
But if you leave it on standby anyway and don't become too awake of it then why not?
I think paper is better, you only really need to write down a few details. The rest of the dream will come back to you if you remember the jyst of it. I just write down a few words in the night, then type them up the next morning. Having you computer on typing will cause you to wake up more because of the light.
I would say use both. When it comes to dream recall, it's far more important to keep the memory of the dream fresh in your mind. Too much wakefulness combined with too much light can leave the dream hazy. Ideally, you want to stay in bed with eyes closed and try to remember as much of the dream's details as possible, linking backward from what was just happening before you woke up.
You don't have to write down all the dream details in your notebook. Just scrawl a few lines... you're not making your entry yet. It doesn't need to be neat and spaced and even. You just need to be able to remember as much as you can, and usually a short sentence or even a couple of words will be enough to trigger more details later. So many of my notebook entries were barely-legible fragments; "walking through a mall backwards" or "the popcorn guy is staring at me".
Later, you can use the scribbles to write a more cohesive entry into your computer.
I've taken to using a voice recorder to speak into upon waking. It's right near my bed ready to go, so I can just reach over, press record and mumble as much of the dream as I can remember.
You don't need a lot of paper anyway, usually just a sheet or two will be plenty. And it doesn't matter if it's smudged. Just make sure you can understand enough of what you've written so you can add the details later.
Just my two cents.
I like the immediacy of paper for jotting down the pertinent details.
But I like the PC better for writing it out as a detailed narrative. Easier to edit and it's so much cleaner when you're done. Plus you're free to include pictures and stuff online, makes for a nice presentation.
Hey shift - thanks for posting that quiz link! I learned about the twin body technique which is the one of the few types of visualization techniques that I have ever used during concentration practice that worked for me. Awesome to think that it could be used to help induce milds!

Paper is faster=more details written. You can also show things (through the shape and position of the text) that you can't in a notepa doc. Also, you can sketch easily on paper, not-so-much in MS Paint!
