      Hi, greetings from N.Ireland!

Hey, new to this site but not completely new to (unintentional) lucid dreams.
OK so let me explain; I've had quite a few lucid dreams, which only started earlier this year, believe it or not when I started training for a marathon relay with my friends. I began taking various amino acids from a health store as I knew these would help my health and general wellbeing.

Anyway, my first lucid dream scared the life out of me, as I thought I had woke in my bedroom, and found the room had been robbed and there was a small oil lantern burning in the centre of the room. The room was trashed and had spears/arrows stuck into the walls, not too sure why?! I figured it was a dream as my clock went up to 14 not 12, and I later discovered it was my first lucid dream as I had the ability to walk about freely in the dream.

My second lucid dream was within a few weeks after, and after reading on this site about how to control it, I decided not to be scared of the dream, and to have a bit of fun... So as a single 21 year old you can assume what was involved, well I thought of women, fighting, a car chase in a muscle car and the dream ended with me in some apartment complex that I've never seen, when I was starting to get freaked out with the fact I wouldnt wake up.... at which I awakened within a few minutes. When I got out of bed I was overwhelmed at how I could make everything happen so easily, but the other occasions since havent been as entertaining or easy.

Anyway, skipping on a bit, I decided to register on here as nobody I know personally has had these dreams, and I have a few questions which I am starting to get concerned with. First off, I'm 21 years old, athletic (when I want to be), but quite the party animal. I found that I seem to get these dreams after amino acids or occasionally just after nights out, but have found on 3 or 4 occasions I woke up in a feeling of anxiety, usually because I would be trying to wake myself but would wake inside another dream.

Do many of you wake feeling this anxiety? I have never had any anxiety attacks or that before, and found I have quite a good heart as I'm definately a fan of an adrenaline rush!! This has made a few concerns for me

Why do I automatically want to get out of the dream?

I've found myself saying "wake up" repeatedly but I would keep dreaming, are there any ways to tell your body to wake up?

      Is this anxiety or adrenaline?

      Welcome to DV!

And adrenaline I think, from fear, the fear of not waking up.
I wonder if you have a phobia about it, anyway, there is nothing to fear considering lucids are like any other dreams, you won't be dying for being aware of it.

      Hey Chris!

By unintentional lucid dreams, where you just become aware suddenly due to reality checks, (checking to see if you are dreaming,) dream-signs, (in your case an out of proportion clock,) or other methods, you are reffering to DILDs. Or dream induced lucid dreams.

I would start keeping a dream journal right away. (That is to record all of your recalled dreams upon waking.) Also, read up on RCs. (Reality checks again.)

The control asserted in your second lucid is encouraging. Go with that confidence and it won't do you wrong.

Good luck in your LD pursuits! And keep us posted/asking questions/providing your insight along the way.

Thanks guys, I slept like a baby last night, dont recall any lucid dreams, just a text message at 7am from work asking me to come in on both my days off this week. It has to be done. :S Going to start keeping a dream journal. I just wish I could tell my body to wake up when I feel a sense of panic again, sometimes it can be quite worrying when I wake up and think I'm awake, but then realise its another dream!! Reading up on my original post, I realised I didnt mention that on the first dream I had, and the very last one, (along with 1 or 2 unmentioned), I found I couldn't wake myself up, no matter how hard I shouted or slapped myself in the dreams. Perhaps I'm still not used to being able to control the dream and find myself freaking out, but sometimes I find myself panicked and struggling furiously to get out of the dream.

Maybe I do have a phobia of this? It's possible because I have very few fears, no arachnophobia, fear of heights, or any of the common fears. When I was a child I fell into the deep end of a swimming pool without being able to swim, and was pulled out unconscious after a lucky escape (thanks to a lifeguard). Maybe since then I don't like the feeling of being unable to escape, like in that case trying to get to the water surface?!

      Thanks, Chris.

      Bout' ye Chris!

Good to see another from Northern Ireland, I'm from Lisburn myself.

I used to get that fear of not being able to wake up - but trust me, soon you will be afraid of the opposite. If you look around the forums you will see that people actually have trouble not waking up

So try to enjoy it. Either ignore the fear, embrace it, let it go - and if you can't, turn it into anger and have an epic battle with some super villain or something.

As for the dream journal, I highly recommend checking out the link in my signature.

I hope you enjoy your time at DV and if you need any advice the dream guide team (green name people) will be of most assistance, and if you want to talk to a fellow N.irelander then I'm just a PM away.
