What the..?
So I had a dream I was running along the sidewalk at night on the main street by my house (well-light by streetlights). I suddenly thought "I'm dreaming", and the resistance to running decreased hugely. I then was able to jump very high, levitate, and sometimes slow time. Oddly, I don't think this was a lucid dream. The feeling of my dream didn't change at all, and my senses remained just as numb. I also had trouble controlling a lot of things I tried. I feel like the words "I'm dreaming" have sort of become irrelevant to my brain because I used to think that a lot in dreams.
Oh, and oddly, an RC after figuring that I was dreaming failed, even though I knew I was dreaming (the RC was the one where you plug your nose. Felt exactly like it does in reality, even though I knew I was dreaming). I just thought "well, that's weird, because I'm dreaming." and on I went.
HOW was this NOT lucid? It feels like it should've been, considering I actively thought "I'm dreaming"

If I'm not mistaken, this topic is pretty much exactly the same as the topic you created a day ago. If you can conciously jump high, run fast, levitate etc, then you are definitely lucid dreaming. Your problem is: Just as stated in the other topic >_>; That you lack the ability to control your dreams well.

My question, although perhaps poorly worded, is different. In my previous topic, I meant to ask what the different between lucidity and control was, where in this topic, I'm more directed towards how it's possible to have control without lucidity. I suppose you're right, that they overlap; however, answering each question perfectly, but without going into unsolicited detail would result in very different answers.

Well sometimes you just dream about the things you can do in a lucid dream, without actually being lucid. Flying, shooting lazer beams and jumping around aren't really tied to lucid dreaming.
So doing these things don't exactly mean that you're close to being lucid.
Lucidity is about being aware, not about being able to control. I'd actually say that when I have these dreams where I'm flying around and doing wicked shit, I'm less aware, and probably less likely to become lucid. Lucidity kinda have to come first, myes?
-
I suppose that's true. It's more the fact that these are consistent elements that enter when I think about them that made it feel less.. traditional I suppose.
-
Well, maybe you should try and think more about the clarity and awareness parts of lucid dreaming? So that instead of dreaming of the things you can do in the dream, you could dream about - Well - Lucidity.
I mean if you think alot about the cool things you can do in lucid dreams, you'll most likely actually dream about those cool things...
Arck, I should do these things aswell :P I'm so lazy.
-
What do you mean? I don't really think about getting superpowers in my dreams, it just happens, quite consistently. To control them to be something else, I'd probably have to be lucid in the first place o_O.
I guess my brain already feels like it's all set in stone, and it's very hard to work against that. How do I work against a placebo like that? It's like how I used to be in bad dreams, and I'd try to clear my head, because I knew if I thought something, it would happen.

Weell, just try to get yourself to do reality checking and touching objects in dreams, because that'll improve clarity. Maybe try autosuggestion?
Autosuggestion works for alot of people, just repeat what you want to yourself before you fall asleep :P

alright, I'll try it. Thanks
