Deciding to try it again

Iv been out of the whole lucid dream game for awhile and have decide to give it another try. A few months back I started my dream journal, did my RC's as often I could and the whole while nothing, sure my recall shot through the roof which was great, and to this day without a journal and using the techniques I learned I still have great recal. It wasn't until a few weeks when I more or less gave up on trying to become lucid I started to have lucid dreams, then with I think 7 in total, almost back to back. But they stopped. So I was just wondering if this of thing was common? Maybe I was trying to hard? Any ideas that might help the lucidity flow more easily? Thanks for your time
