Hey all~
I'm Stara. =) And I'm hoping that joining here will help me be able to finally get a lucid dream~
I have actually before, but I had no control in it, and since then (as a defense mechanism?) my dreams have gotten really really fuzzy. It's been so long since I had a fully remembered dream, and what I do remember makes no sense. I guess a lot of people's dreams normally don't make sense, but mine used to. If I can't have lucid dreaming, I at least want that and my dream recall back.
But I digress. It's great to be here.
EDIT: Autosuggestion doesn't work for me. At all. :/ Just thought you'd like to know.

If you've ever said "Yes, I am dreaming!" whilst in a dream, then yes, you've been lucid. Doesn't matter how much control you have, you were still lucid. (Be careful of misinfo on the forums.) And no such "defense mechanism" exists, it was probably just a coincidence.
Personally, I find all my nonsensical dreams to be quite funny. But I guess a good balance of both will keep you sane. :P
On the matter of autosuggestion, I can't say much since I don't know how you've used it before. Maybe you could elaborate on what you've tried and how you tried it.
Glad we could have you join us!

Yeah, I know. :) And alrighty.
Just telling myself I'm going to remember and/or become lucid in my dreams. It apparently works for some on this site from what I've seen, but not for me, and I've tried lots of times before. I've tried to WILD too, but I can't ever fall asleep like that, and normally I just end up staying awake for three hours before I give up and fall asleep the normal way.
EDIT: Wait, I guess it's not WILDing if I do it without waking up from any previous sleeping, right?

no, you can WILD without having slept previously, but from what I've heard it's easier when you've woken up from sleep.

:welcome:
You should look into doing a Wake Back To Bed. It may help you with your dream recall. Also, as others have mentioned, it is almost impossible to WILD when you first go to sleep at night. You need to do a Wake Back To Bed to really give yourself a fighting chance.
I'm sure you'll be lucid again in no time. It just takes a little practice and attention :)
