Why Can't I Lucid Dream? Oh God WHY??

A few months ago I discovered Lucid Dreaming, and I became amazed by it. I immediately became obsessed with it, and wanted to do it. I tried WILD, DILD, NILD, MILD... and even combinations of all four!

I have always had excellent dream re-call, even before I started jotting stuff out in journals.

I practiced reality checks, whenever I thought of it, and still- nothing. I have come so tantalizingly close; my first dream- I DREAMED ABOUT HAVING LUCID DREAMS!!!!

I gave up after a week to two weeks, and now it is several months later. I look back, and I still can't figure out what I did wrong. I am a 14 year old Canadian male, and my biological clock was screwed up (I went to bed at 8-9 and got up at 4:30 because I was a competitive swimmer).

I have quit swimming now. My biological clock is slowly returning to normal. What have I done? What can I do?

You have been at it for 2 weeks... it can take months to learn the skill of LD'ing. Try to keep at it, but never expect it - that way you can keep practising but won't be too disappointed. Try to work up your prospective memory and be patient. Make it a part of your life. Go to the tutorial-section and read... Good luck :)

it is possible to put too much into it. The idea is to make an effort each night with 1 of the techniques. Do some reality checks occasionally throughout the day, but don't become obsessed. Give it another shot. The worst that could happen is that you get disappointed from not having a lucid dream. I find it to work best on weekends or days when I can sleep late, since morning is the time lucid dreams occur anyway.
