New here, questions.

Hi, my name is Colin. I have been aware of lucid dreaming but up until recently i really haven't gotten into it that much. i stumbled upon this website and was pleasantly surprised to find such a helpful community. Now to the questions..

1.There is a series of videos on You Tube by a person called Reecejones87, he has developed a theory on 5 different levels of lucidity (0-4), could anyone tell me if what he says is on the right track?

2.Though being in control seems fun to do sometimes, I think I would rather take a third person perspective to the dream (like watching a movie) and know that I am dreaming but not attempt to really control everything, has anyone done this?

3.As a dreaming journal becomes larger will i be able to watch more detailed and saturated dreams or just recall them better?

Hey, Colin! Glad to see an interested person with our questions.

1. It's hard to say what is wrong or right. Lucid dreaming is highly subjective. What works for one person doesn't for the next. Dream methodology onl goes so far. Nonetheless, I'll check them out and post my opinion here when I'm done.

2. Yes, actually! Quite a few people I've heard about watch dreams without a body- from above- and then influence the dream like in Black and White. (You play as God in that game.) I think I heard a knowledgable member called Arby talking about that once. Correct me if I'm wrong, Arby. But if he shows up here, maybe he could provide deeper insight.

3. In my experience, increasing dream recall also increases waking-to-dreaming recall. Meaning you wil be able to remember techniques you learned in RL and goals you made better. It should help all around.

1. Levels of lucidity are abstract, I would pay no attention to them.

2. Yep, I've done that a few times. Sometimes I've become lucid while something exciting was happening so I gave up lucidity, or at least most of it so that I could watch or participate.

3. Recall and detail tend to go hand in hand so yes :)

Hey C-Fonz, welcome to dreamviews.

This Reece guy is only describing his experiences and categorising them - it doesn't really mean anything. There are certainly different levels of lucidity, but I wouldn't put to much thought into it.

The second question is pretty simple, I have done it a few times and for me the dream plays out by itself - the mind does tend to wander though, so you have to watch yourself or you will lose lucidity very quickly.

A dream journal increases your recall, so you will remember more dreams. in turn, your dreams usually become a bit longer (personally I see no difference in detail, but it varies from person to person). Also, there maybe times where you remember very little, but you'll find that is is probably a stress related problem or a dry spell which usually clears up after a few days (give or take a day).

Hi Colin, I've watched a few of Reecejones87's videos. He seems to know very well about what he is talking about. As a beginner you should learn the basics first. As in the techniques and to become lucid. As you get better you will find that you can do what ever you want. If you want to watch a movie, and not really control, it you can do that to. This will take a while to learn but you'll be able to.
