New to lucid dreaming.
Hey everyone! I'm new to this site and lucid dreaming. I've been keeping a dream journal and doing RC's at various points during the day. For the first time today, I had a dream where I realized I was dreaming. I don't really think it was a full lucid dream though.
The posts I've read on here makes it seem like lucid dreaming is very vivid, yet the dream I had today wasn't at all. I even thought about it during the dream. I had some control to the dream, but not much. Idk if this is normal to have these "half-lucid" dreams and I would really like to know how to gain more control of my dreams and make them more vivid.
Anyway I love the site and would really appreciate some responses. Thank you!:)

Welcome to Dreamviews! I hope you find what you need! Much of what is posted here can be confusing, as lucid dreaming is very specific to the individual. This can make attaining lucidity seem exponentially harder than it actually is. But on the whole, this is a good site. I hope you enjoy your stay, and happy dreaming :welcome:

:welcome: to dreamviews!
In response to your question, it appears to be a normal phenomenon. Once you realize you're dreaming, try to stop everything that's going on and focus. Get your bearings, try doing a few basic math problems, remembering when you last went to bed, what the day is, etc. That should help to wake up your conscious mind. From there, go nuts! It may take some practice to gain total dream omnipotence, but keep trying and you'll master it in no time! Also, you may need to build up your dream recall a bit. You should be able to remember about one dream per night on average.
There definitely seem to be different tiers of dream lucidity. Some people merely realize they're dreaming, and go with the flow, while others know for a fact that they're dreaming, and they have total control. It all depends on experience, the dreamer, etc. Others can probably fill you in more, seeing as how I'm just a dream noob.
Enjoy your stay at dreamviews! :rainbow:

BlinkFTW, :welcome: to DreamViews!! There are varying levels of lucidity one can experience in the dream world. Some dreams you have may be low level lucid dreams, some medium level, and others high level lucid dreams. While there's no "official" scale on the matter...yelling out "Increase clarity now!!" has helped my awareness increase within the dream state on a number of occasions.
