You should get up as many times throughout the night as you think you can with your schedule and still get enough sleep (although I wouldn't suggest more than three times per night). Getting up a couple of times throughout the night will allow you to remember dreams that you would have forgotten otherwise.
A lot of people swear on B-6, and some combine it with melatonin...but I'm perhaps not the best person to tell you about this. Others will say that it has little to no effect. If you really want to know, try it out and see.
I like to set an alarm in 2 hour increments and write down my dreams as soon as I awake. If I haven't dreamed after the first 2 hours, I simply go back to sleep. What B6 does is make your dreams more vivid/clear/bright/colorful. It doesn't necessarily help you become lucid. An easy way to get B6 is drink apple juice before bed. Also peanut butter contains B6 and quite a few other foods. You can also buy B6 vitamin pills in stores. Good Luck to you!
You are keeping a dream journal, right? That's probably the most important thing for improving dream recall. Taking tons of B6 and waking up 20 times per night* will be useless if you don't write your dreams down.
*In no way am I recommending waking up 20 times a night. It will just make you tired in the morning.
I usually get up once and I had a lot of luck with that. As for the B6, right before you go to bed, it's absorbed slowly.
thanks for the tips
Well, I take B-6 in a vitamin. Vita-Vim to be exact. Since I started taking it, I could remember at least 2-5 dreams a night.
I can always remember a dream in full detail waking up once a night. Just make sure your room doesn't
have a ton of distractions. Like lights or a tv. Slow music is fine Right when you get up write the dream in a dream journal. You will form a habit
very fast.
