Grats on your first lucid. The dreaming spinning and rubbing your hands together technique always does wonders.
Wow, congrats on your lucid! And Welcome to Dreamviews!
A lot of members would be jealous of you for getting a lucid dream so quickly. And flying, to boot. I think flying is probably something just about everyone does in those first lucid dreams. Keep checking you hands, and dream on. ;)
Oh--by the way, we have a section on here for dream journals, so you can start posting your dreams where other people can read and comment on them. :D
thanks you guys! :)
I haven`t had another yet, possibly I`m a lil too anxious, possibly stress, lol, either way, I`ll get it eventually.
yea the spinning definitely kept me where I was for long enough to realize what was going on and take flight. ...lost it somewhere after that though.
I`ll keep the rubbing hands together in mind for next time. :) wish me luck!
wow first one in under a week. Very good :D
ok i realized something, and am wondering if anyone maybe has a tip for me. almost always (even b4 learning about lucidity) i know that i am dreaming, but my dreams are more like a movie, in that i am aware of the fact that i am dreaming but i am just watching it all as it progresses, theyve always been vivid, but never so convincing that i thought it was real. so last night, i`m in a dream, and i try to look down or move my hands, but nothing happens the dream progresses at the same rate as b4, its like watching prerecorded dreams...thats why it was so exciting to be able to move around freely in the lucid i had. any tips?
:( no advice on that one?
lol I`m anxious about that answer too ;)
Awesome :D
well, last night I had another vivid dream, with several dream signs(one of which was a ringing trophy, which I answered and talked to my mom on lol), however, I was unable to bring myself to be able to do a reality check. please help! :(
Hiya,
My brief stint on these forums has taught me a lot. You need to truly believe you can do x, y and z, if you do not then you won't put your thoughts
into action. If you become aware you are dreaming you need to try (but not too hard) to realise it IS a dream and you CAN manipulate it.
Start off easy... Try changing the colour of something.
Last night, whilst randomly walkin and running around New York in my dream, I had a point where I became aware of the fact I was dreaming I started trying to manipulate my surroundings, which failed epicly. I tried something more subtle, in another dream that night I was following friends in to a back alley, they dissapeared and I seen a door which I believed they went through - I tried opening it and failed, but when I walked away the bloody thing opened!
It's all in the mind. I think you just need to believe.
thanks for the tips! :)
i also tried to remember to do more reality checks today to try to keep from forgetting to do those in dreamland :D
I`ll let you all know how it goes :)
TTGirl: Those third person dreams can be kind of hard to enter. I'm not entirely sure, but it may be that they come from watching a lot of TV and movies, where you really are watching from an outside point of view.
Whenever I have a dream in the third person, I imagine myself jumping into the TV set (kind of like Pleasantville!) and that usually helps.
As has been said, confidence plays a huge part in dream control, but practice also plays a part so don't be disheartened that some things are a little harder than others.
sorry for the delayed response, twice I have replied and both times my phone`s internet has not cooperated. :p anyhow, I`ll try to remember what I wrote now :D
I am definitely confident that I can do this :) I`m practicing to the best of my abilities, but as with anything, tips and advice are always very much appreciated!! :D
I haven`t seen Pleasantville, but I do think I understand what you mean :)
I don`t remember dreaming last night, so I didn`t have an oppurtunity to try to jump in. I`m still very anxious for an LD to happen again, so I fear maybe that may be having an effect on it. I`ll get it eventually though! For sure :D
again, thanks to all for tips and advice! :)
so excited now... had another LD FINALLY!!
just another short one, but I totally took the advice and instead of reality checking, I just decided to dive right into a character in my dream (mind you it was a 3d cartoon character) still, none-the-less, I was a different character than myself in a LD. and also it was after I woke up then went back to sleep, and an alarm woke me, then I hit snooze, then had a dream! so excited!!
wow another LD this morning after hubby woke up before I decided to. This was the longes yet, maybe 20, 25 minutes. about half of it was Lucid. wow I am just so excited now. This jumping into the dream technique is workin teriffically! (if thats a word lol) and the rubbing my hands kept me there :) this is so great!
I am so excited, I had another LD this morning after my hubby woke up and I went back to sleep. This time it was approx. 20 to 25 minutes, about half of it was lucid. This jumping into the dream technique is working perfectly! Thank you so much! and rubbing my hands together seems to work very well for keepin me there, its easier to remind myself I`m dreaming instead of spinning and forgetting. also, I was able to spin and change "scenes" and was able to "create" stuff out of "thin air". So amazing!!!
*twists face in envy.*
*indeed*
well I feel kinda stupid now b/c this morning I posted that, it didnt show up, reposted from memory, it didnt show up, and reposted a 3rd time, still didnt show up....now I came back 2 try again,...and 2 were there lol, but I will leave them both there 4 good measure ;) ..to err is human...to royally screw up takes technology...lol. anyhow, I know I know I havent really been doing this long, but the best advice I can give is this: try 2 just jump right into a character if you pretty much always know you are dreaming, and rub your hands together if you feel it fading, and just concentrate on this "I am cobtrolling this dream no matter what", also, I get the best ones so far after I hit the snooze button, so set your alarm a little earlier than you usually would!! good luck, and sweet dreams!!!
oops! **controlling**
my bad ;)
Well I'm feelin a lil bit stupid now. Somehow I totally misunderstood the concept of LD. I THOUGHT that you had to have control for it to be considered lucid....but as I have been reading though Naiya's ever so helpful LD thread, i have been happily corrected!!!So as I mentioned before in one of my posts, I have been aware of the fact that I am dreaming many many times....which really really excites me ALOT!!! :)
Anyhow, this morning I had a non lucid dream that had a premonition in it!! never had that happen before to my knowledge! (it came to pass only a few hours later) (craziest thing thats ever happened!!) anyway, thats all I had to say lol.
Happy dreams!!!!!!!!!! xoxoxo
Well, congratulations! Sounds like you are a natural LDer--excellent!--and are off to a good start with your dream control, too.
Yay! I'm glad it helped. Now that you know what you know, all you have to do is take charge when you get lucid! Start thinking of some of the things you want to do, and go for it. Good luck! :D
Thanks LWA. :)
..and thank you Naiya for the very very helpful thread and all the advice! :)
I will keep you all posted on how the dream control is going, and maybe someday I will kick the "shy" habit and start a dream journal for all to see :)
..also, any advice is still very much welcomed and appreciated!! Sweet dreams you guys!!! :)))
you had a prophetic dream? care to elaborate in further detail?
Btw, KEEP A DREAM JOURNAL. doesn't matter if anyone reads it. no one's seen mine. i copy/paste/edit some entries and show to people, but no one needs to see your whole DJ but you. You'd be AMAZED at how much your dream recall goes up, and, how simply re-reading your old dreams from wayyyy long ago will refresh your memories of dreamland. sooo helpful
Yeah, I want to hear about the prophetic dream also!
Part of my dream practice is to look for coincidences between waking life and dreams. Small coincidences that give me the feeling of 'the color of that leaf, or that person walking through that door reminds me of the dream I had last night". I get into that coincidence feeling and pretend I'm jumping into the dream while I'm walking around during my day. I'll do reality checks also and pretend I'm dreaming, which gets me into a good lucid wakefulness dreamy zone (know what I mean?)
But after a few weeks of that, the coincidences started getting more obvious. I would dream of a pyramid of fire and I would see one in a pottery kiln the next day. I would dream of a snake and I'd see one the next day. One thing I'd do is if I dreamt that I walked down the sidewalk in a neighborhood of my town, the next day I would go walk down that street, which would artificially make that dream a 'precognitive' dream. And I would look at random people in town as if they were just dream characters and I'd try to pay attention to all the little details to get me lucid. But it gets out of control. I'm a little out of practice right now being distracted with waking life drama and my wife's demands on my attention lately, but at the height of my practice (a few years ago before I met my wife) I had the most vivid non-lucid dream where I went down to the coffeeshop downtown and sat on a bench in the parking lot and the most beautiful girl walked up to me and we were in love! I woke up all lovey feeling. So in waking life after I woke up I immediately went down to that coffeeshop and sat on that bench. I sat there for a while and I was about to give up and leave when a car pulls up and that girl gets out! I had never seen her before. And she came over to me and introduced herself. She probably thought I was a fool because I could barely talk I was so shocked. I wanted to tell her I had a dream last night that her and I were in love, but I couldn't tell her that, you know? She would think I was either a creep or crazy, or both! Ahhh, she was beautiful.. a sexy smiley blond girl from Slovenia.
Anyway, I was too shocked to really talk meaningfully with her and she left. I talked to her a few times since then and even flirted but the timing was never right again and now she has some kids and a husband and I have a wife.
But anyway, practice the dreaming/waking coincidence stalking and see if it works for you! I should get back into it myself. I am inspired. If only my wife would let me sleep in and would stop snoring and jumping around in bed while she sleeps.
good for you, you seem to be a quick learner. It took me a while, but I have atleast 1 a week now, and that seems to only be increasing.
lol!! You guys make it sound like so much more than it was with all this "prophetic" talk. It was merely a teeny tiny premonition, and you will all think it's silly once I explain it, but it excited me very much. Anyhow I'll have to go a little further into detail than I'd like to explain it. (and I say further than I would like because it will be all this building up to something so small and insignificant.) I just hope it doesn't disappoint you :p lol
Ok, so my husband had to work out of town a few days this week due to lack of local work, and he was going to have to wake up at 4:30am Monday to go drive across town to his boss's house to catch a ride, simply because his vehicle isn't reliable enough for a long trip. Anyhow, 4:30 rolls around, and all 4 of our alarms went off, then a wake up call from his mom who works early, so he layed awake in bed waiting for his boss to text message him with the plans for the morning, but I went back to sleep. So later I hear his text tone while I am sleeping, and I swear, it seemed so real that he told me the message said that the guy was going to come pick him up at our house. So I slept peacefully until our daughter woke up for school, because I knew he didn't have to drive across town all early. So we both got up and were in the kitchen making breakfast, and I said something along the lines of "how cool that Brian is coming to pick you up this morning" And he was like "what are you talking about? He didn't say that" And then he shoewd me the list of messages in his phone, and he was right. No message said that. Then, a few minutes later, Brian texted him and said "ok I am leaving my house and coming to pick you up" See...told you it was not so big. :) lol Glad to share it though :)
"But anyway, practice the dreaming/waking coincidence stalking and see if it works for you!"
LMAO@stalking?! hahaha wonderful way to put it!!! I will give it a try for sure!!! :)
..and thanks to all my other congratualtors and enviers ;) for posting too. It really helps to know other people care about this too, makes it much more fun!
I layed in the bed last night angry at this site, because I read some very discouraging posts that someone had put on another "newbies" thread... and I had no recallable dreams (because of that anger, I assume) Anyhow, I encourage anyone who gets angry at new people for not posting with proper grammar/punctuation/capitalization to just point out to them in a nice way that it's all in the rules and regulations, don't make them feel an inch tall, it may discourage them from ever coming back. And then where would they learn...unless ya don't care.
Ha, thats all I had to say about that :)
That is a real premonition! Keep working on it!
@ Dannon: that`s what I was afraid of *bites nails nervously* that freaks me out a lil bit. lol
Oh, don't worry. It will guide you. A friend of mine took his car into the shop. Apparently the mechanic forgot to fill his break lines with fresh break fluid. My friend picked up his car and was driving home through the mountains when his care made a funny noise. The noise made him remember his dream the night before where he didn't have any brakes in the dream. He tried to stop but it was hard. But he did. If he didn't have that dream or remember it he may have wrecked his car or died.
A little omniscience is a good thing. You won't know everything! And you won't know what you don't want to know, either. Just let it guide you and enjoy. It is like an enjoyable deja vu feeling!
Wow!! That story makes it way less freaky and more all at the same time! I`m glad your friend was ok! ..now I will definitely look to dream "coincidences" for whatever their meaning may be for me!! :)
..and I started my dream journal today! :)
My dreams last night weren`t lucid, which is odd, I actually felt like I was experiencing what was going on. This just reinforced my theory that I have been LDing for longer than I realized, b/c my dreams almost never feel that way! Always 3rd person or like a tv show...somehow knowing it was a dream as it unraveled....except for the few times I have experienced dream control, that was totally different and more awesome than any other dream EVER! :) :)
..have a great day everyone, and sweet dreams!!
