What type of dream is an FA?

Hi Everyone,

Today i had an FA coming out of a WILD. In the process i forgot my WILD....sigh!

At least i remembered my FA!

So here is my question. How do i classify my FA? (I am still in my project of classifying my count so i can post everything.)

Would this FA be part of my WILD? since it's sort of the "tail end"?

Or would it be a DILD? ... since, again, it's on the "tail end" of something?

Or simply it's own thing?

an FA is not a type of dream, rather it's a certain part of some dreams.
There are 2 types of FA's- lucid and nonlucid.

I would classify that WILD+FA as a single lucid dream

Really, it depends on you. Classifications are often subjective. Personally, I count my FA's as a separate dream from the 'previous.' In the case you mentioned, I would count it as a WILD + a non-lucid FA (2 dreams). It's all a matter of personal preference, though. I don't believe there is any right or wrong way to classify that.

Well if you were not lucid while you were actually in the FA, then it is neither WILD or DILD or anything with "ILD" at the end of it.

It's just that you never actually mentioned if you became lucid after you "forgot your WILD".

If you did become lucid again it might have been a DILD, or just a random, natural LD.

And I would class it as the same dream (depending on whether you had started another REM period or not, if it was the same REM cycle then it was all the one dream). But I would not class it as a WILD just because you had originally became lucid via WILD. If you became lucid again after loosing lucidity, then it is whatever lucid induction technique used to become lucid at that point in the dream.

i.e. I think you had a WILD, then FA, then became lucid again via DILD. (but I cannot tell because you're description was not quite detailed enough)

I think it's a DILD. Well, if you woke up and were instantly lucid, you could consider it a WILD/ Accidental DEILD. But, if something in the dream clued you off -- something impossible, a reality check you did, then it's a DILD.

Personally, I count FA's as a separate type of lucid dream just for counting purposes.

A false awakening is not a dream unto itself. It simply means that you dream you wake up.

Don't worry too much about classifying and counting everything. I think doing that kind of stuff makes dreaming lose a little bit of its enjoyment. If you really want to do it, then I would simply list it as "FA".

It's easy to forget what you were dreaming about before FA's because they are usually so realistic, you completely lose lucidity. It's a good idea to do an RC every time you wake up, just to make sure it's not an FA.

But in my dream, my WILD, i "woke up" (lucid dreaming) and decided I wanted to record my dream, before I forgot about it. either that, or it was a continuation of my WILD. not sure.

I started fumbling around, looking for my iphone.
I panicked, i couldn't find it. Suddenly there were a row of iphones of all different shapes, colors, and sizes!

i couldn't decide which one i should use and got flustered and confused.
The confusion kind of threw me off and obfuscated what happened beforehand. So i kind of felt like looking for the iphone was the beginning of a new dream?
(This was the FA).

Then ... a few more things happened... (and i was definitely lucid).... and i then went back to looking for, and finding the right iphone in the dream.... and then I woke up for sure.

(at least i think i am awake right now, let's see, do an RC, right?)

I couldn't recall what happened before the iphone part.

Well, the main question on my mind is, if you were "lucid", why were you looking for your iPhone? Why were you trying to record the dream? I'm not sure if I'm reading you right. You said that, "in [your] dream, [you] 'woke up' (lucid dreaming), and decided [you] wanted to record the dream." This tells me that you weren't lucid. If you were lucid, you would know that recording the dream, while in the dream state, would do no good.

So I'm thinking that, in the FA, you weren't really lucid at all.

At least, that's what it seems like, from the way you described it.

I think she meant that the FA started out nonlucid, but then she became lucid and did some stuff, but she can't remember what... And then she lost lucidity again? :?

Oneironaut, you have a point there. maybe i did just come out of a dream and not a WILD?

or it was an FA. either way i got lucid.... and, it seemed to end lucid.

i like Waking Nomad's point. Not to worry too much about how to classify things.

actually this was the FA. the FA is simply the single event of waking up in a dream, then you lost lucidity because you thought you were awake, like almost everyone and decided I wanted to record my dream, before I forgot about it. either that, or it was a continuation of my WILD. not sure.

When you have an FA, you are continuing your previous dream, because you didn't stop dreaming.

You regained your lucidity. Great! Many people fade in and out of lucidity in dreams. Happens to me all the time.
