      Need help with dream recall

I have noticed that in the dreams I can remember, very similar aspects are there such as similar landscape, stores, and just themes that I think would be great dream signs. The problem is, I don't remember many dreams at all. I know the idea of mentally saying I will remember this dream is commonly given, but if I don't even remember having the dream I don't think that will work. Oh well... I think I'm having more success than most people. Its only my second week trying and I have had 4 lucid dreams, even though 3 were on back to back days about the same things. I just want to ask for what helps others remember dreams.

      Thanks.

Three things that have really helped me:

      1. Keep a dream journal. I was skeptical at first, but seriously, one of the best things you can do. Not making it up here. Just do it.

      2. Try saying a memory mantra to yourself over and over again. "I WILL remember my dreams" has worked great for me, though you have to say it with the intention of following through. Gotta really believe that it will help.

      3. When you first wake up, if you feel the dream begin to slip away, hold perfectly still. Moving causes neurons in the brain to fire, and only push the dream farther away. Just hold still while you try to remember as much of it as possible, then immediately reach for your DJ and write it all down.

I was going to say what Mario siad, but he beat me to it!

The only thing I will add is this-
dreams can be very emotional. If you really can't remember the dream recognize the emotion that you feel upon awakening. Once you establish how you feel on waking up, you may be able to remember more about the dream.

And good to have you on DV!

Yeah, that's what I also do. I've only had 2 lucid dreams, but these methods work excellently for dream recall. And definitley start a dream journal. (:
