First time - via binaural beats?

Hi

I heard about LD couple of months back. I never tried the reality check technique, it's difficult for me to cultivate habits, I'm too lazy! :P

A few days back I came across binaural beats and found they are used to induce LDs. So the past few days I have been trying every night. It is quite difficult for me cuz it takes hours for me to go to sleep, and even after I did, it didnt happen.

But today morning when my alarm went off, i put aside my headphones, and dozed off again. To my luck, after dreaming for a while, for the first time in my life i actually was "thinking"; and while thinking, one thing led to the other and i realised i was dreaming! i was so excited, i got out of the house i was and while looking around, i saw amazing colours and fluidity, just like an LSD trip! But then slowly it kept flowing and I ended up seeing myself lying in bed! :( Not even a minute of LD!

I joined this forum today to see where i went wrong. Maybe i tried concentrating in taking control, maybe i was too excited, im not sure.

Anyways, what i want to know more is, did the binaural beats help or was I just lucky? I did go to bed with much more intention to get it right, maybe that? I will try again tonight and see, but I'd like other opinions too! :)

Couple of things -
For starters, whenever you wake up from a lucid dream, do a reality check. It could have been a false awakening.

Two, whenever you become lucid, spend some time grounding yourself in the dream. Rubbing your hands together and rubbing different surfaces to feel the textures are a good way to solidify the dream.

Three, I'd get a hang of just becoming lucid (What I'm still trying to do :P) before using too many powers. Trying to control a flow of colors might not have been the best idea.

Example - My very first LD was a weak WILD, I was in this open expanse with huge pillars in every direction. Instead of trying flying, I exploded everything into huge pillars of fire, but I woke up doing it.

Last, I don't know about binural beats. I've tried them, they haven't done anything for me. You have to understand the point behind binural beats, they don't magically put you into a dream, they alter your brain waves to different frequencies, binural mp3s that are supposed to aid lucid dreaming simply put your frequency at the right wave to encourage dreaming, so in theory it can help, but I've not had a whole lot of success.

Doing it now.. Nope, I'm awake all right! ;) But yeah I get the point.

I didn't try to make the colours flow, it was just happening by itself. But I think I started trying to change the "scene" before the colours started flowing. When that happened, I just stopped and watched, I love seeing that, even on an LSD trip!

I had a similar experience. I fell asleep in the car (Hehe, no, I wasn't driving! :)). When I woke up, I fell asleep again after some minutes and I had an LD.

The theme doesn't matter, but the point is that when the dream got a little blurry, and it just struck me to spin around, and it worked! Think I read it somewhere.
