Arrow I know that I'm dreaming

I know that I'm dreaming but I dont have any recall when I wake up. I dont remeber any of my dreams last night but I know I had two. I used to think I never had dreams but when I came here I tried to condition myself to find out how much I really dream. I've never been able to know how when I'm dreaming or how many dreams I have in one night until last night... What steps do I take to further increase this skill?

Practise, Practise, Practise. Try to make dream recall something that is important in your life. You need to be motivated to remember, if you see dreams as pointless you will forget them just like anything else. You must train your mind to make it important. Set goals and targets, and reward yourself for good progress.

Most importantly... keep a journal, try to write in it as soon as you wake up, and try to write down at least one dream each night. Try not to move from the position from which you wake up in before you remember something, then jot it down. I usually write bullet points which then I try to link together. Remembering dreams works like a jigsaw puzzle, rarely goes from start to finish in a nice neat line. There is some nice software called dream journal which you can download for free, which helps with motivation, but remember to take notes if you can't write up on a computer. You want to write it down as soon as you wake up or you'll lose important details. Also make sure you get a decent amount of sleep each night, and eat a healthy diet, this will help your dream recall a lot. If you are overtired it can be hard to remember. Try setting a night where you have time in the morning to take naps after you have woken up from your main part of sleep. The onset of the dreams then is much faster, and you often wake up straight from them making them easier to recall. Good Luck!

Hmm...are you attempting to your remember all your dreams upon waking in the morning? If so, this can be pretty difficult. Multiple dreams can be difficult to remember at once. Alot of times, it almost seems like dreams "overwrite" each other throughout the night and you can often only remember the most recent one upon waking. What I like to do, is set an alarm periodically throughout the night. Usually in two hour increments. I wake up, immediately write down any dreams I have had, and then return to sleep. As long as you are pretty good about getting back to sleep, this shouldn't cause any problems. If you can't have a loud alarm, I suggest putting a cell phone on vibrate and maybe putting it in your pillow case or your sock. You could also try drinking alot of water before bed. This will cause you to wake during the night as well. Good luck in your future efforts!

Can you please check out my other thread about mantras and you will soon find out that it would be extremely hard for me to go back to bed after I wakeup in the middle of the night... I am already doing bad in school too so i can afford to lose more then 3 hours of sleep

Sure, I'll be glad to go check out your other thread. Well, it is going to be difficult to remember your dreams if you try to remember them all upon waking. I suggest keeping a notebook close and as soon as you wake in the morning, write down as much as you can remember. It helps to try and write the dreams in reverse order. Write down the last part of the dream you can remember and then try to think, "What was I doing right before that?" Then try to think about what you were doing before that...and that...and so on. It helps me remember parts of my dreams that I would have forgotten.

I would say that this is a very very bad idea. I completely discourage having a source of microwave radiation, especially of such frequency band, anywhere near your head for such extended amount of time. If your phone has a "plane safe" mode, then you could use that.

I can't help but whince when I hear of people sleeping with their phones under their pillows. In the long term, possibly short term also, will be bad for your sleep cycles and lucid dream quality, but those would be along the least of your worries.

Or, for the phone thing, if you're really that worried about it, you could put the phone on a wood or plastic counter/desk where it'll make enough noise to wake you up, but not enough to disturb anyone else.
