There are TONS of techniques on this site. It's even possible for you to develop your own with a good bit of expierementing! Personally, I have had the most success with the good 'ol DILD technique.

MILD works wonders for me...and is typically recommended to beginners. You'll understand more as you progress. All in good time. :)
could you explain the DILD and i also had a wierd dream last night, it was a dream ABOUT me having a lucid dream i tried the MILD last night and i only got that dream about a lucid dream and another can you help me prevent these wierd dreams about lucid dreaming?????????
thanks
Actually, that is great progress. Lucid dreaming is already such a part of your life that you think about it in your dreams. Although it didn't click this time around, you are definitely on the right track. :goodjob:
DILD is basically using reality checks and increased awareness to become lucid. Reality checking is a means of increasing your alertness, and can also be great at triggering lucids, the idea being that if you get in the habit of doing them in reality, this behavior will carry over into your dreams.
Some dreams are easier to RC in than others, for sure. It can be hard to remember to RC when you're online or playing a game, which is why I recommend the MILD technique with RC's used only for backup. However, if you insist, you could set your watch alarm to go off every 30 minutes or so. I have a popup program that runs in the background of my PC. It comes up every so often with a little reminder to do a reality check.
As for hearing stuff about anchors in your dreams, remember that they're only dreams and don't mean anything. Your brain is very good at putting together all sorts of random nonsense, and can make even the most tedious connections between real life and the dream world.
Unless you heard something about anchors in real life, in which case I have no idea what you're talking about. I have never heard the term "anchor" as it applies to lucid dreaming before...
Okay, reality checking can be great for some people, and is capable of making them lucid all on their own, but for many others, they are best used as a sort of backup. The key is to begin suspecting you're dreaming, which increased awareness is very good at helping with. I wouldn't give up on RC's altogether, though. Also remember that whatever method you choose will take time to work. Have patience, and good things will come. :)
so what is a good way to do a mild i tried one last night i listend to binaural beats to relax then did my best to repeat a mantra do you think this is what caused the dream about lucid dreaming?????? also and achor is an object that reminds you do do an rc
thank you guys for all the help i really appreciate it it is nice to actually talk to someone with experience in lucid dreaming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
:)
Binaurals are a decent lucid aid...if you like them, you may also wish to look a bit into isochronics, which are very similar but supposedly more effective.
The mantra is very good, and could very well be what caused your dream. It could also be because you are merely visiting these forums more often, so a sort of "seed" has been planted in your subconscious, which increases the odds of having lucid-related dreams. I would recommend performing the same mantra throughout the day, if possible.
Ah, okay...new terminology incoming. :P I did not know that. Thank you. In that case, an anchor could be any number of things: walking through a doorway, hearing a watch chime, looking at a post-it note, a giant letter scribbled on the back of your hand...any number of things really. What it is is up to you.
Yeah, that would probably be your best bet. Also, when you're sitting in class and you notice yourself zoning out or are bored, repeat your mantra and try to be extra aware. It isn't easy, and I think I read somewhere that paying attention on a regular basis is equivalent to a light workout. The rewards are definitely worth it, though. ;)
I don't quite see the appeal of WILD and WBTB techniques, personally. They seem like way too much hassle. I think I'll just stick to MILD and DILD, thank you very much. Besides that, the amount of effort you have to expend toward each method tends to decrease over time, which appeals to me.
alright thanks you guys have been a great help also just a a curious question, what is it like to fly nad control you r dreams ive had one before on random and i tried to make someone appear and it was hard but seriously is it like something you cant imagine or is it just kinda fun
