well if any of you have answered my posts i seemed pretty interested in lucid dreaming
but now i just kinda lost faith
lucid dreaming just seems like too much work for me
i lost my watch that beeps every hour so i can't do a DILD anymore because i just wont remember to do reality checks
can someone give me an effective technique that doesnt require waking up in the middle of the night
im really loosing faith someone plz help me
Nope. No one can tell you how to lucid dream but you, unfortunately. The amount of work being worth it is relative to the person. If it's something you truly, really want to experience, then you will. You've just got to keep going with it.
There are plenty of techniques and tutorials of all sorts. You just need to practice them. Do you keep a dream journal? Believe me, I lost faith in my ability to have lucids at all. But "too much work" is like saying, "I have the opportunity to make 25 million dollars this year if I really really work for it, but that's too much work."
Except in my opinion, this is much more valuable than money. This is the opportunity to live out every fantasy you've ever had of any kind, and explore and expland your mind. If that's not worth the work to you, then I don't blame you, but I'd really re-evaluate that statement if I were you. That mentality will only serve to demonstrate to your mind that it's not worth it to you, and then it's less likely to happen.
Part of the reason people successfully start having lucid dreams is because they put in the EFFORT, and it clicks in their mind's that, "hey... wow we must really want to do this, this must be really important, so I'll make it happen!"
And then they lucid dream. Attitude and determination is just as critical as the techniques are, if not more. Just give that some thought for a bit.
Maybe you should just put lucid dreaming aside for a while. If you don't think about it too hard, you might find that you start to LD occasionally. Kind of like when you're trying to remember some obscure fact, and it just comes to you out of the blue. Now, this works for me, but I can't guarantee that it'll work for you. Also, one thing that helped me was doing RCs in waking life every once in a while. Not too often, just when you see something that reminds you of a dream, or something that seems weird. I don't think lucid dreaming should be so much work that it interferes with your life or the amount of sleep you're getting.
When faith runs out it means you have been doing it for too long...take a break. Come back to LDing when you feel up to it. As for tips for LDing....RCing is not the best way and definately not the only way. The most effective way is usually mentally draining at least for me to be honest. Because techniques that require you do RC and do stuff during the day (little mental effort) isn't going to make much of an effect on the subconcious. So far the most effective way for me to date is to control your thoughts while you are in bed and use some kind of visual activation like switching on a light at spaced intervals of say few minutes apart with the light switch in your hand and thinking of what you'd do to be lucid and then turn of the light. You can do this with your eyes closed and still see the light and think the idea until such point you don't need the light and the lucid idea runs on it's own in place of randome thoughts and the thoughts will menifest into an LD that you want. This technique is effective but mentally draining because thinking in sleep means you are not resting the brain.Quote:

You don't need a watch that beeps every hour to lucid dream or RC's. If it's that hard to remember, leave yourself notes. Place them around your bedroom, in the bathroom, on the fridge etc. Notes are a good start, however don't rely on them forever. You have to want to do RC's and want to lucid dream, otherwise it probably won't just happen on it's own.
It's something you have to work for. It's not just given to you.
Start by doing an RC every time you look at a clock, close your eyes or look away and then back again. Remind yourself that you're awake! It's not that hard to take a few seconds a day and devote them to RC's.
Giving up is the first sign of failure. Keep at it, the reward is PRICELESS!

ooh hey is it possible to do a WILD while just regularly falling asleep at bed time?? and how scary is it i heard about hallucinations and i really don't want to scare $#@! out of myslef so.......................
It's possible, but WILDs are easier to achieve after you've been asleep for a few hours. If I were you, though, I'd work on other methods before trying WILD, because it takes a lot of practice, i.e. failed attempts. DILD is probably the way to go for a beginner.
ya im a student so i dont really want a loss of sleep, um so besides the DILD like i said i lost my watch any other good techniques???????????

id try this technique for a couple of months:) it focuses more on pre sleep activities then waking hour RCs.
Once I started having LDs I stopped using techniques at all. I'm sure that everyone has different experiences but for me LD techniques helped me change the way I see the world. It increased my critical thinking skills, analyzation of my surrounding, and self awareness. There is no magic trick that you can do and voila you're lucid. You have to train your brain to be ready to recognize the difference between dreams and reality. The exercises and techniques take a different amount of time for everyone who tries them because everyone's brain is different. You'll get out of it what you put in.
Here are my suggestions:
DO keep a dream journal. Writing down your dreams will help you to see patterns. It might also help you recognize holes in your logic in dreams later on.
DO RC. There are loads. I've found the nose pinching one to be the most reliable. The hands one isn't bad but there have been times when I was LDing that my hands looked completely normal.
When to use RCs: Using RCs at prearranged times during the day, when your watch beeps for instance, is fine but it isn't training your brain to think differently, it's training a behavior. Instead of scheduling it try RCing when something odd happens, or whenever you think about sleeping, dreaming, or going to bed. This is where analyzing your dream journal can come in handy. If you know what to look for, even a completely ordinary event can cause you to realize that you're dreaming.
DO take a nap. I have far more LDs when napping, fully dressed, with the lights on then I do when I'm sleeping at night. I can't really get up in the middle of the night and go back to bed either, but an hour or two nap in the middle of the day, or after you get out of school can sometimes trigger an LD.
DO use mental reinforcement. Tell yourself you're going to have an LD. Imagine yourself having an LD. Think about becoming lucid as you're falling asleep.
DON'T get discouraged. People teach themselves to LD all the time. It takes longer for some people than it does for others but it will happen if you put in the work. Getting discouraged or frustrated will be counter productive and hold you back. Relax. Take a break from techniques if you feel like it will help.
