question about WILDs
it has been a while since i last tried lucid dreaming. my most successful attempt was a WILD. just before the dream began i had these intense sensations that i can best describe as cold, staticy, electric fire consuming all my senses. unfortunately it all culminated in a false awakening.
now i've started working on lucid dreaming again, and i can go through all the steps, the visuals and sounds, the sleep paralysis and anxiety, then some kind of intense feelings (nothing like the successful attempt), followed by calm. but i've never duplicated that last bit, so i've assumed i've been failing. is it typical to have intense sensations just before a dream starts? have i been looking for the wrong thing, and perhaps had successful attempts that i've spent with my eyes closed?
thanks.

Hi! Welcome to DreamViews.
The intense sensations you are feeling is your body falling into sleep paralysis and are very very common during WILD. If you are getting to this point you are very close to suceeding with your WILD.
The key at this point is to not let them distract you so much that you wake up. You might try to use these sensations as part of a visualization. For example, visualize that you are flying down a long tunnel full of energy fields. Each time you pass through an energy field, it creates one of the sensations....

so these feelings typically happen multiple times, with varying intensity? i think i'm confusing something else for sleep paralysis. when i try to WILD, i usually dip out of consciousness for a split second, after which i can't tell how my body is oriented (i'm usually in a position with one hand on top of the other, and i can't tell which is on top or if they're touching, for example), and i feel like there's a crust around my body that makes it hard to move. is that not sleep paralysis?
