New and Concerned
I experienced SP as a sleep disorder in my early 20's and thought I was dying. Never did I think to look at the internet and figure out what was occasionally happening to me until recently. Since then, I've been attempting WILD's (3 or so times a week for a month or so). Using WBTB, I have been able to successfully induce SP but with some alarming results. Only once did it lead to a LD of which I didn't have very much control and that lasted for only a short time.
Some of the alarming sensations have been:
An elevated heartbeat(probably over-excited)
Uncontrolable shaking different than vibrations (like I was freezing cold or in shock)
Extreme dizzyness (feeling like I would completely black-out)
I guess I just want to make sure I'm not doing my body any physical or mental harm.
p.s. My first WILD was the most pleasant and peaceful experience in my life and I want more. It was like "The Nexus" in Star Trek Generations (nerd). I am assuming that I am wanting it to happen so much that I am too tense or excited when attempting that it's hindering my ability to be successful.
Any suggestions?

Hi there, welcome.
The heartbeat is just from being excited, I got that too. Pretty soon it doesn't phase you.
Shaking is normal and lots of people experience that.
Dizziness I don't think many people experience but I do.. Once the sensations are over make sure to reality check, false awakenings are pretty common.
You're good to go. Also, here is the Dream Control and the stabilization tutorial

Welcome!
Good luck with your lucid's and dream control. If need you any help feel free to PM me or any of the Dream Guides. There's a lot of experienced members here that are more than happy to help you with any questions you may have. :)
To answer the question you asked in this thread, no you aren't doing any harm to your body or mind.
I experience the dizziness feeling as well, the shaking not so much, but the elevated heart rate also. It's normal, and it's how you body is responding at that current moment. It's not a sign of damage being done anywhere within. If you would like more information on the subject, there are tutorials and information on it linked on the homepage.

Thanks for the hospitality. Maybe a little peace of mind and reassurance is all I needed to have more success. I think I just need to keep practicing, getting used to how it "feels".
I feel like I've been given a gift and I want to respect it and use it. So, forums like this are really helpful and appreciated by someone like me.
Thanks again.
