Anyone else have such trouble in first lucid?

Last night i had my first lucid dream since coming onto dream views. The dream did not last very long, and while it was happening I found it incredibly hard to do anything worthwhile in it because of several factors:
- I had to keep doing reality checks incredibly often, because I kept feeling that I was on the edge of losing lucidity, and that the dream kept trying to become a nightmare.
- Being excited as i was on having a LD, i couldn't decide what i wanted to do and stick to it; i kept changing my mind so many times, trying to change the dream scenario again and again, and so I never gained any stability and so the result was a very unstable dream that was continuously fading away from me. So most of the time had to be used up in stabilisation techniques, I was spinning around countless times.
-I was generally in a state of panic for most of this dream, I couldn't seem to relax myself enough to so things at a proper relaxed pace.

I managed to detect many false awakenings during this dream - however in the end my dream mind finally won over by tricking me into thinking that I was so far into the process of finally waking up that it gave me the illusion of already having one of my eyes open, with the real vision flooding into my dream vision...I was incredibly pissed off when I eventually let myself wake up because of this, and then realised that the real vision looked completely different.

Has anyone else experienced similar trouble when having their first LD's?

It might be best not to try too much in your first few lucid dreams. Just wander around and check out your dreamscape. Look at flowers, houses, people, go swimming, FLY. Keep moving and see what's around you, and you should stay lucid longer, plus there's so much cool stuff going on in a lucid dream just to enjoy the view.

As for trying to attempt specific things in lucid dreams like finding a dream guide or manipulating my surroundings, I find that if I'm standing around thinking about what I want to do, I start to wake up. So if you really want to do something like that, PLAN IN ADVANCE, before you go to sleep. Then you can remember it immediately when you become lucid and attempt to do it right away.

First of all, congrats on having your first lucid!

Once you get more lucids you will notice that the quality of the dreams differs a lot. Have you tried other stabilization methods? Such as staring at objects, smelling at things, touching objects.

Dreams goals is the key. For me at least. If you have preset goals on what you want to do your mind will be more focused. LDs without goals often turn into unwanted dream sex or many fast scene changes for me. Keep a list of goals in your DJ. Look at them before you go to bed and tell yourself that this is what you want to do.

I wouldn't stress it. The first lucid is rarely as amazing as the 10 one if you catch my drift?
