Getting serious this time!
Well hello everyone, I'm new to the forums here but I've known about lucid dreaming for a while. I've done loose attempts before but now I'm ready to try my hardest.
I've been doing reality checks several times a day and reminding myself of lucid dreaming before bed. So far however, I've been unsuccessful. This is no surprise becuase I'm a heavy sleeper. I do dream, just not often. I'd say about half the time I can remember a partial dream and only about once a week can I remember anything semi-complete (OK! I'll start dream journal. Just feels really awkward though). Not once have I noticed being in a dream.
I really hate the chance aspect of MILD so I started trying to WILD too. I've done three attempts, with a WBTB, all failed. I've gotten to the edge of SP all three times (tingling in my legs and hands) and then felt a sudden "upward" sensation. The feeling fades several seconds later and I get very disappointed (don't worry I didn't forget to do my reality checks). Not once have I seen any "swirling colors" or had anything more then a momentary daydream. I think I may be concentrating too hard on my external body when I should be focusing on a dream (Any tips?). Or maybe I'm not waking up during my REM period. I suppose I'm just going to have to keep trying!
I've also been mildly interested in Binaural Beats. While I can't quite commit to wearing headphones all night I may consider using them for a WBTB WILD. Theta waves are 4-7Hz, which is where REM occurs. So would a tape of 5Hz induce a lucid dream easier? Or maybe it should slowly move from 15 to 4Hz being that I'm starting awake? Please tell me your set-ups if you have them.
This may be a sort of "it takes time" kinda thing but I'm awful impatient. None the less I'm going to keep absorbing as much material on the subject as I can.
 All hail the gods of the things we have no control over!
