New to lucid dreaming, SP scared, recall ability

So hi everyone. First I want to quickly introduce myself . I'm 15 and from the Netherlands.:D

I am new to this forum, because the Lucid Dreaming thing sounds extremely interesting to me.
I'm able to recall my dreams whenever I want, I just gotta think "I remember my dream" before I fall asleep, and most of it I just remember when I get up.

Now, Lucid Dreaming sounds extremely cool, reading all your stories and stuff. When i'd master the skill, I would try to fly, become an animal
But it's really not that far yet. First I may need to begin a dream journal (as you say in all of your guides and tutorials), but with my daily school life and stuff, I honestly don't really have time to do that. Well, at least not really a detailed journal.

But before I get into anything , I still have a question

The Sleep paralysis thing sounds scary to me. I've read about the effects like spinning around or feeling like free fall (which I have experienced slightly using binaural brainwaves ) But I have also read about the scary hallucination effects. When that might happen to me, I'm afraid I'd then never want to get into learning the skill of LD again.

I've read the topic about Paralysis, but it's all way too complicated English for me :oops:

Oh, and this question just came to my mind
When I would talk in my LD, would I talk in real life too (or anything with movement or so), so is there a relationship between the interaction in you LD and in real life?

When I'm short on time, I just tend to write down a couple words that could "jog my memory" and help me write down the dream later. Pretty helpful on school days.

I wouldn't be too scared about Sleep Paralysis. The one time i've had it I just heard a loud buzzing and entered a dream. If you do get frightening hallucinations or sounds, the important thing to remember is that it's all in your head.

Also, if you move in a dream you will typically not move in real life. Our bodies go into Sleep Paralysis every night to keep
us from hurting ourselves.

Hi, welcome

Also, I'm wondering, I'm Dutch by the way, how did you find out about this site? I don't know any other Dutch people that know lucid dreaming, do you?

If your referring to dreams in general, than yes, you're normally not aware that you're dreaming, that's the point.

Well, it's actually quite a long story.

A few weeks ago, I found out about I-doser (binaural brainwaves). To be honoust, I downloaded some pirated MP3's, because I was sceptical that it wouldn't work for me.
It actually worked quited a bit for me (said in my first post).
Through the i-doser forum I found out about Lucid dreaming.
At that point i saw Avatar and then I googled "pandora lucid dream" (I was ensured that there would be people with Avatar related lucid dreams and I wanted to read their stories) Then I ended up on some kind of avatar forum and that lead me here.
I'm not an avatard :banana: I like the movie though
And I don't know people who know about lucid dreaming, too. I only told one friend of mine, just because other would be too sceptical.
When I told my father of the phenomenon Lucid Dreaming, it seemed he hadn't even heard of it.

And I don't know how much of an experienced Lucid dreamer you are, but maybe we should contact through PM, because it's makkelijker in het Nederlands :)

I was actually referring to Sleep Paralysis, i'm sorry if I wasn't being clear :P

I've had 11 lucid dreams so far since the summer. I'm not a beginner anymore I guess, but most people on this site are more experienced. Sure PM me if you have a question which you can't explain in english. I'll answer or I'll post the question on the forum.

Than I wouldn't know, I've never consciously been into sleep paralysis before. With the emphasis on consciously: sleep paralysis is something you go through every night, you're just asleep.

I 'm gonna make a dream journal. But just with keywords.

And also, the fact that this looks like a very active forum pleases me

So do I just need to keep the dream in my head while I walk up to my PC, and then write the journal? It's in the other corner of my room and it also takes about 30 seconds to fully boot up
Do you use the program too?

I do, however I have only written down one dream in it so far. I also have a physical dream journal with about 50 dreams in it, but haven't written anything in that for months. I should be more active.

You can write down some keywords with pen and paper if you want. Ideally you don't move and you don't open yours eyes yet when you try to recall your dream. You could also go through the dream in your head, then get up and type it in the computer.

Yeah that's what I'll be trying to do
I've already written down a dream from last monday in it :P

I'm not sure if it means anything, but when I found out that dream recall was a necessary skill, I've been able to recall at least one dream a night, without even caring or trying. Any tips to help remembering and focusing in your dreams? I've read the main articles, but I want some more in-depth help on how to do this.

as for I know, it's just practicing and practicing, and it's also a very common thing to "instruct" your brain into remembering your dream.

I know how you feel, I used to be scared shitless about SP, but then I tried it, and it really isn't that bad. While I haven't completed a WILD completely, all I felt was a few vibrations, I heard a few noises, wasn't sure about whether or not they were real, and I was completely numb. It's actually pretty fascinating, and it can be very exciting! Anyways, good luck with your Lucid Dreams!
