I felt I should share

I felt I should share what my dreams are all about with total strangers, because i rarely dont dream and not remember every detail and feeling and scene. Lately i've been having lucid dreams. I wasn't sure what was going on until one day one of my very close friends metioned lucid dreaming and so then it happend again and again. So I researched it and came upon this sight .

I fell asleep last night a little earlier than I normally do. I was so tired that my eyes where closing on thier own. I drifted off pretty quickly and my dream began with my boyfriend and i driving and where driving through this thick forrest its down hill and in my dream I fall asleep and then I start to dream about past childhood memories( I wont go into this) and then I wake and he says that we have to go back and we go back up this long strecth of road with this hugh redwoods streched out as far as the eye can see. also theres this strange blueish orange tinit as if there were fire up the hill. I then start to panick and dont want to go up. but he doesn't listen. By this time I have reverted to a diffrent place. I am with my boyfriend in our bedroom and were getting a little intimate and then his face turns into this monster looking thing and trys to eat me and then i screem and i wake up in the car again and there i am next to him and he's still smiling and i then suddenly see only black, i can't breath and i know that this was all a dream but i can't wake up. I feel scared and alone and feel like if I dont wake up something will get me and so i start to feel introverted for a momment and then realize that this is only a dream. So i yell out that i am in controll and its as if i new that i had actually said it not just in my dream. I then attemp to wake myself up because, even though im alone i can feel a precense and i need to wake up because the fear as set into a diffrent motion. I can feel my legs hit the sheets but my body feels lathangic and asleep ( kinda like when your hand falls asleep, my whole body felt like this, from my hands to toes to lips) I then struggle as if im fighting something off of me and i grab thr edge of my bed and begin to open my eyes and finally i awake.

Welcome to the site! Well, I think you were really lucky to have a lucid dream! If something like this happens again, and you know it's a dream, try changing the situation instead of waking yourself up. Imagine you are somewhere else doing something else. Dreams are created entirely inside your own mind so if you know it's a dream you can control it in any way you want!

I haven't actually had a lucid dream myself yet, but I'm trying!

Sounds scary! The part at the end sounded like a typical sleep paralysis episode. (very common both at the point of falling asleep and waking up when lucid dreaming is involved) Feeling "a presence" happens to a lot of people during this time. It's important to remember that none of it is real, and if you throw yourself into it with a positive attitude, any hallucinations will likely be more positive. Same goes for when you're in the dream. If you're fearful, scary things will no doubt happen (and vice versa), as dreams are largely built on your expectations.

Congrats on starting to have lucid dreams! You can really have some fun with them when you exert some control. I see it as a personal challenge when something scary happens in my dreams. I stare the monster out, inches from its face. Eventually it dissolves, becomes cartoon-like, or I get sick of staring and beat it up. I know it can be hard to change your mentality in a dream if you're already afraid, but the benefits will be 100% worth it. Also, if you're going to be sharing more dreams, I recommend creating your own dream journal thread in this forum. I'd read em! And a sweet program for organising and posting your dreams to your thread is this one. Keep an eye on that second thread though, the creator is bringing out a new version in a week or two.
