Hey! I'm extremely sorry if this is in another thread but I was really curious if anybody else has ever went to bed and suddenly you felt as if you were accelerating for like 3 seconds. And is that related at all to lucid dreaming?

Hey! I'm extremely sorry if this is in another thread but I was really curious if anybody else has ever went to bed and suddenly you felt as if you were accelerating for like 3 seconds. And is that related at all to lucid dreaming?
What do you mean by accelerating? Were you lying still in your bed during that time?
I think it's SP (Sleep Paralysis), and yes, it's related to lucid dreaming :)
Yes this sensation of linear acceleration is a hallucination and common occurrence during hypnagogia. Unlike a visual hallucination, it actually comes from the vestibular system originating in the inner ear, which is a sensory system of the body responsible for determining balance, spatial orientation, and acceleration. This is why people often experience sensations of random acceleration, floating, spinning, etc. during hypnagogia along with visual and auditory hallucinations.
Oh yes! My sister was telling about this just the other day.
Thank-you Aquanina.
I've experienced it too, along with the feeling of spinning. If that was actually SP, I think it's rather nice
Bit of a misleading thread title...haha
