Hi, I'm Nathan I'm 17. I just recently learned about lucid dreaming after I awoke and because concious in one of my dreams, everything seemed very real. I could feel the cold air around me and see my surroundings extremely clear. I then went to Google and found out about lucid dreaming, I have downloaded tapes that help me relax, but I still cant recreate this Lucid dreaming, the only thing I have come across is when I'm listening to the tape after about 20 minutes of relaxing, he starts to count from 11 to 20. I am completely numb at this stage I can't even feel my arms what so ever, and when he gets to 20 something strange happens, its very difficult to explain, my heart beat rises and i loose complete feeling over my body and start to panic and feel as if I'm moving directly into my sleep.
As i said I'm new to this and have very little knowledge about it.
& I really want to fully experience this again. :banana:
EDIT: After a quick look around the site I found that this method is the WILD one, is this weird panic sensation i feel the very moments before i enter a Dream lucid?

This experience that you've been through is the transition phase, at the point that you whole body is numb and you feel as if your heart beat is rising. If you had kept on with that you would have gone directly into sleep and into a lucid dream.
When you do this and successfully pass the transition stage and find all of the sensations and feelings come back to normal and find yourself still in bed, don't think you've failed because you could well be in a lucid dream/false awakening. So do a reality check straight away, and if that fails you'll become fully lucid and then try to get up and then do what you want.

I agree with snumbers, but the most helpful thing I could think of at this point is training yourself to do reality checks. So far's I remember there're some in the tutorials section of the site, but what they mostly comprise of is just embedding in yourself the reflex to do a check whenever things seem in even the smallest way out of place.
You may feel silly whilst awake, but I don't think there is a better way of proving to yourself that you're dreaming, and thus hitting a very lucid state.

thanks for the information, Today i got a program that pops up on my screen asking if I'm dreaming, now i just have reality checks stuck on my mind, also when i get to the transition phase, moments before passing into sleep it just wont budge, i just cant get past this barrier, its like a very tall hurdle which i just cant get through, my mind just wont allow it, well that's how it feels, I've done it twice now, no success.

Although it wouldn't hurt to keep trying, I wouldn't rely too much on those tapes because there are plenty of other ways to become lucid without them: http://dreamviews.com/community/forumdisplay.php?f=25
If you want to WILD more efficiently, I suggest giving it a read. There so happens to be different ways to WILD too. My personal favorate is performing a WBTB with it.

Thanks, I'm just going to keep doing reality checks and always have lucid dreaming on my mind before i sleep and when i wake up, i'll get one eventually :) hopefully.
