Nightmares rule my sleep

Ever sense I could remember Ive had horrible nightmares that leave me paralized upon awakening. I remember a lot of those dreams and I believe they started when I was six. Every single one of them has a entity that I cant see. Just recently though Ive had some very disturbing ones and someone just told me I have a personal Incubus which I know is myth but still freaks me out...

Here is how it went...

I was laying in bed (awake) staring at the closet door and trying so hard to fall asleep. I dont remember closing my eyes or even falling asleep (I have trouble sleeping). Out of no where starting from my toes I felt goosebumps and a freezing sensation crawl up my body. I couldnt move and at first I was intrigued. Until my whole body was engulfed in this feeling and I started to be pulled down off the bed. I could feel the fitted sheet wrinkle under me and the comforter bunch up ontop of me. I could not feel hands just yet but I knew something was there.

I couldnt move and I was starting to freak out. At the time I reached the foot of the bed this...thing...put one arm under my knees and another behind my back. I could tell it didnt want to hurt me but I didnt want to leave. My husband was in the other room (he snores and I already have trouble sleeping). I started to move inch by inch trying to kick my way out of its arms. Finally with much hard work I was dropped. My head almost hit the book shelf (and yes everything was in its place as in the real world) I ran to the door in panic and failed a couple of times trying to open the door. Finally I got it open when the feeling of being chased was almost unberable. I ran down the hall way to where my husband was sleeping and ended up opening his door with ease. I remember seeing him sleeping and I felt an overwhelming sense of envy at his ease at it. Then I was pushed and I woke up in the bed it all started in.

I couldnt move for which seemed like ages and I cant tell you if I litteraly couldnt or if I was too scared to. But I looked at th closet door and saw a swarm of bees which started to desend to the floor. They ended up going down so low that the matteress obscured the view.

When I could move I looked for the bees and they were gone. I ran and turned the light on because I still had that feeling of being watched. When the room seemed clear of weirdos I again ran to my Husband to wake him up crying.

Ive had many nightmares with something trying to take me away. Even when awake I almost never feel alone. I hear people running upstares when Im home alone and even my two dogs who are always with me hear it too.

I cant seem to figure out what this all is. What it means. Should I be scared? Should I try to confront "it"? Or is it just a matured version of the dreams I had when I was 6 and I was being dragged infront of a school bus by something that wasnt there.

I never EVER had it with this much feeling though and I cant help but to think it was all real.

Well, it sounds like sleep paralysis but its not normally that instant and seamless. Its nothing to be scared of, but one thing that makes it worse is the paranoia of someone being there, if you think someone's following you, you will feel it and your mind will hear it. Best thing is to overcome that first, you could go to your doctors or a psychiatrist. When these experiences happen you should be calm and just say to yourself that its not real and no ones there or something like that to soothe yourself.
It seems that lucid dreaming is natural for you. I cant help you more than this but I think you should see your doctor or a psychiatrist.

I can’t tell you what your dreams mean (I have enough trouble decoding mine :) ) however, I can empathize. Until I was about 14, I had horrible nightmares every night multiple times a night. Just like you, I have all 5 senses in my dreams, so sometimes I would wonder if it hadn’t happened after all. They would leave me terrified and would haunt me throughout the day. I tried all sorts of things to make them stop, but nothing worked. Finally, I started repeating multiple times a day “they’re not real, it’s just a dream” over and over and over again mentally. I didn’t think about it too much (otherwise I’d be awake half the night) but I thought it until it got “stuck” like a broken record and repeated itself without my help. Soon, I was able to tell that I was sleeping and stop many of the horrors. My nightmares ended soon after that. I admit, I do still have the occasional horror every now and then, but nothing like I used to.

That is DEFINITELY sleep paralysis!!

People are often terrified of it until they learn what it is, and that lots of people experience it frequently. Here's a video that explains it pretty well:

Wow that's one hell of a dream. I also have a hard time going to sleep and have a feeling of being watched and still do but they don't worry me so much anymore. I had an experince like this once but I got injured by it witch made me scares to go to sleep for a few weeks. Don't know why but your psot made me remember it.

Hi! Before I joined dreamviews, I didn't know anything about lucid dreaming, and had nightmares all the time, and woke up in sleep paralysis several times. I would wake up for a horrible dream to find I could not move, and then my horrible nightmare started to fade in again, and it felt like someone was pressing down on my chest, and I could barely breathe, and I was sleeping on my back. I have found that struggling makes it worse. So I found out about DVs and the same day, I was doing a bunch of reality checks, and at night I repeated the mantra, "I will remember my dreams", and "I will realize I am dreaming while in a dream" once in a while. My recall was terrible, a nightmare every other day, with an occasional good one, like maybe every other week. I started having the nightmares when I was 14 I guess, and haden't really had many before that. I think the reason was because I was sleeping with my brother, and I moved into my big room far from everyone elses by myself. I also listed to a paranormal show a few times(Darkness Radio), as I fell asleep. Man they talk about some freaky stuff... Well anyway, I had 6 dreams that night, 4 nighmares in a row and 2 good long ones. The nightmares were very short, 10-15 seconds. I wouldn't remember falling asleep, and suddenly I was in bed, and my closet door started to open, and an alarm was going off in my head. I simply closed my eyes and repeated "this is a dream" and woke up 5 seconds later. Before knowing about LDs, I actually woke myself up from nightmares quite often. After that I have only had nighmares maybe only every other week, and I remember 3-6 dreams a night, good ones. I don't know why I haven't had any, but I haven't listened to that show for a few months. Just think of good stuff as you go to bed, and remind yourself there is nothing to be afraid of.

Wow Vicky, that was pretty intense! I know how god-awful it feels when you think you've woken up from a nightmare, only to find you haven't escaped at all. I got it bad once or twice, (forced myself "awake" about 15 times in one dream) but I have a method of dealing with it now. I hope I can reassure you a bit. :)

When I'm in a nightmare, or something scary happens, I'll usually try to force myself awake by thinking about myself lying in bed. Often though, it isn't as simple as that. I'll wake up, say, "phew!" and look around. Something doesn't feel right- maybe it's somewhere different to where I fell asleep, or I do a reality check which fails miserably. I get a feeling of dread, that I'm trapped- and would love more than anything just to wake up.

The worst thing to do here is panic. Take a breath and sit still for a second. Take a step back from the situation, look at it objectively. Remember that dreams are built off your expectations, if you are fearful of something coming to get you, your subconscious will play on that. Since it has the ability, it will make it happen. The opposite is true as well. Positive thoughts equal positive outcomes. Since it is nearly impossible to go straight to a positive attitude, I like to pause and take an attitude of thoughtfulness. If scary things persist, don't react. Think about why they are there, and do not fear them. Remember, you are inside your own mind. You are the master. Invincible. You can not and will not be harmed by anything here. If you stop and think about it at the time, the only scary thing is the fear itself. Nothing physically exists for you to bother yourself being scared of. After you examine what's going on and calm yourself down, you can use the time (while your body is resting but your mind still active) for some thinking, exercise your creativity, or go flying to Paris, whatever you fancy.

I havent had any nightmares or dreams sence then which is a relief but a downer too. I want to over come it while its still fresh lol. I dont like it but I know it is in my head and I am pretty much god in my dreams. Maybe I havent had another dream due to my head cold because I havent been sleeping very good. In fact Ive been on and off every hour not long enough to get into a deep sleep.

Im just happy I figured this out now while Im 25 then when Im 80 and have a heart attack lmao.
