Fellow Dreamers

Hello everyone,

Well after browsing around on the forums for quite sometime, I've finally decided to sign up and get involved in the community, maybe even make a few like-minded friends.

I first heard of Lucid Dreaming through a movie I stumbled upon called 'The Good Night'. Being someone who previously had a great interest in Dreams and their meaning, I was intrigued to know whether or not the concept of Lucid Dreaming were in fact possible. After a short while researching on the web, I was excited to find out that it was indeed a real phenomenon that anyone could experience.

I've always believed that dreams are more then our mind amusing itself or the process of our brain sorting through our daily collective of thoughts while our body rests. The people I've met, the places I've been, the things I've felt can be so real. And when I wake up, I wish this segment in what seemed to be the glimpse of another life had not ended, I miss those places, I miss those people. Through science many discoveries have been made surrounding the mysteries of the unconscious mind, but I believe that there is still much more which has not been brought to light, and may never be. Of course I have my own theories but I'll leave that for another time.

To date I've had 3 Lucid Dreams. My first was a false awakening, which at the time I was unaware of.

My Second Lucid Dream was probably the most interesting. In this dream I was running through some sort of dilapidated house. A shadowed man was chasing me, and the surrounding walls seemed to be screaming. This loud noise coming from the walls acted as a sign that I was in a dream, I knew that it was not normal, and in that instant I became Lucid. As I walked forward, the entire scene became more real, colours intensified, things became clearer. I stayed calm, and decided to confront my pursuer now that I knew I was dreaming. I found him standing in the hall way and as I went to stand up to him he came charging at me and hit me in the face. I woke up, and my face was hurting, somehow this dream segment had coincided with my partner rolling over and hitting me in the face with her elbow as she slept.

My third Lucid Dream was a result of using the WBTB technique. I had a false awakening, this reality is the only way to describe how real this felt. I got out of bed, wondering why my room had become dark, as when I had woken earlier that morning the sun was rising. I went over to my window and saw that a blind was pulled down in front of it (a blind which I don't actually have) and figured that this must have been the reason for the darkened room. I pulled up the blind to discover another one behind it. How strange I thought. I walk over and switch on the bedroom light (yes, the light levels did change). I then decided to do a reality check just for the hell of it, not even believing that I might actually in fact be dreaming. My hands popped out at me as if I was watching them in 3D, they became sharp against the background, and some really weird dept of field started going on. I felt a tingling sensation in my head, I became Lucid, but from the excitement I woke my self up seconds later.

Last night I had a very strange experience. Lately I've been trying the FILD technique (for 2 nights in a row now with out any luck). I set my alarm 5 hours after I wake, however I've been too awake to fall back to sleep in the short time frame of 30s-1min. But last night, although I didn't succeed in becoming truly Lucid, I did have a profound experience. To sum it up I had a dream in my dream that I was Lucid dreaming. In my dream I went to sleep, and later awoke, thinking I had really woken up in my dream world. I look at my hands in a dark room and I see that my thumb is abnormally big, swollen looking and realize I'm dreaming. Hoping to prolong the Lucidity, I rub my hands together. Not sure what happened from then on but that particular segment was quite vivid when I awoke. It really made me think about the possible paradoxes that may be possible in dreams, I mean how many dreams can we achieve in only one dream?

I've also had a great interest in the connection between astral projection, OBE's and how they are all connected along with Lucid Dreaming.
