People seem to have different reactions with it. The topic come up a lot (of course, now that I want to, I can't find a thread discussing it). You can poke around in the lucid aids section:

The traditional advice is that it kills your dreams. I don't know if this is correct, however. Everyone has slightly different chemistry, expectations, and sleeping habits, so some people say it increases their recall or vividness. You can always keep notes in your dream journal for nights you smoke or don't. See if you notice a difference.
