Hi everyone. I'm pretty familiar with lucid dreaming. I only had it happen once to me but just like as I read, I got excited and I woke up :shock: Ever since then I've been trying to get myself to do it again, of course failing every time. It would be nice to get any advice or tips from the more experienced lucid dreamers. I hope to get more involved with this community and hopefully someday be able to say "I can totally control my dreams" :happyface:
Welcome to DV! Hope you enjoy your stay. Don't think of it as "failing" never say that! Call it "progressing" that's what you are doing. Every time you try you get closer. Keep your mindset on lucid dreaming and sure enough it will work for you. And keep a DJ! Helps a lot. What exactly is the way you are trying?
Thank you MadWorld! I'm hoping to improve my techniques. I really didn't have stable techniques per say. I would just try to make myself realize that I'm dreaming. I tried creating a dream object appear in my dream, whenever I would see it I'll know I'm dreaming. Though, it hasn't worked so far.

Anyways, as MadWorld said; Keep a DJ, it does help a lot.
Find a dream sign and every time you see or think about it do a reality check :] Always question things around you when you are awake keep yourself aware. Learning to have constant, or near constant awareness during waking life will help a lot. Getting the feel of knowing how you feel when your awake rather than dreaming can help too. You will notice the feel of not-dreaming so when you dream you will question why you feel so odd/out of place. Have faith in yourself. Your mind likes being told it can do things, because when it is, it will. So just keep telling yourself you can do it and always have positive thoughts.

I think it will be challenging to do a reality check while awake. Well for me anyway. Something I'll have to get use to, really get into the habit.
Yes it can be difficult to keep a DJ but keep in mind one word, or sentence can jolt a memory of a whole dream. So if you don't have time at the moment when you wake up to write it all down, just jot some words down make some little notes. I guarantee you at least 90% of the time you come back, if you have forgotten of course, when you see these words you will remember. It works like that for me.
