Beginners luck?
Hi oneironauts!
I'm a brazilian lucid student. I started to study LD in the begining of january. I already read the "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" and a lot of articles from LaBerger and others. I already had 9 lucids (since january) but I think I'm suffering from something like "begginers luck".
In the first month of study I recalled many dreams per night (8 was the top) with an average of 4. Right now I'm going in a week with poor dream recall. Many nights with no dream recall at all and others with just one.
And when talking about a LD I had a real vivid LD 11 days ago and yesterday I had just a blink of LD. When I thought that I was dreaming I woke up.
Well, I think I started my studies of LD with very good dream recall and a couple of lucid dreams (just one week after start the study). But now I'm having poor dream recall and no LD at all. I already started to read again the LaBerge book and doing a lot of dream checks around the day.
What can I do more to come back to the levels of dream recall and lucid dreams achievements that I had in the begining of my study?
Thanks for any help!

Dream recall and lucid dreaming seem to be cyclic for most people. It is quite common to experience what you are currently going through. Most people here call it a 'Dry Spell'
I know that I am going through somewhat of dry spell right now. I remember lots of dreams a night, but only seem to be able to get lucid one a week or so.
Just keep up your journal and reality checks. Your recall and LDs will return.

I agree with Seeker on this one. It goes in cycles for me. Just hang in there, and don't stress out about it.

I know that probably the cycles are different for each person but I'd like to know the typical cycle for the lucid dreams/dream recalls. It's one week, two weeks? A month?
Regards and thanks a lot!

I'll usually go for a week or two with excellent recall, and several LDs. Then I can go anywhere from a week to a month without having very much of either. Of course, other things factor into this, like stress level, amount of sleep, etc...

Welcome to DV, Cerebus! I'm glad you joined us and I hope you enjoy your stay here :D
If you're looking for new techniques check out the Tutorials Forum. As for recall, I think the dry spells just depend on how life is going at the time. There are a lot of factors that will influence it: change in sleep schedule, chemicals in the body, hours slept, etc. But don't worry about it because the more you focus on recalling your dreams, the more likely you will. It's all about the mindset. I'm actually thinking of doing an experiment with regards to recall, but that's still a work in progress.
But yah, I'll see you around and if you have any questions feel free to ask. Sweet Lucid Dreams!
