Question about inducing sleep paralysis

Hi all, newbie here. I've done a lot of research and attempted to induce sleep paralysis and besides the occasional itch, which is easy enough for me to ignore, the biggest issue I seemed to face in resisting the urge to move was swallowing. Every once in a while, I just fee like I HAVE to swallow. I've read that swallowing was a way to end sleep paralysis if you wake up after a lucid dream still in sleep paralysis, so I'm guessing it would also stop the onset of it if you were trying to induce it, correct?

Also, I've only had one lucid dream ever, a DILD, so I'm pretty excited about hopefully being able to control this one day! :D

hi philip, im a newbie to but if i was you i wouldnt worry to much about sleep paralysis, in my opioun, or my onion, dont have a dictionary handy, its a waste of space, youll just end up bored, frustrated and thinking what was the point, youve had a lucid dream, i hope it was a good experience for you. it will happen again, just dont try and force it

Going through Sleep Paralysis is a key step if you want to be able to have WILDs, but don't worry too much about swallowing, it won't stop you enterting SP. In fact it is probably more distracting to try and force yourself not to swallow, so just let it happen and keep your mind focused and relaxed.

When you wake up after a LD and happen to still be in SP, swallowing can pull you out of it, but that's more to do with the conscious signal you are sending to your mind to wake your body up.

Sleep paralysis is sort of a red herring. Don't focus on it too much. Worry more about the dream, itself. The transition is never the same twice, and sleep paralysis is not always a part of it. When you WILD, try to take your attention away from your physical body. By the time you are transitioning to a dream, you should not even be aware of your physical body, let alone any itches or urges to swallow.

The one time I actually made it to sleep paralysis, I did so by resisting the urge to swallow, and it was really really hard! Before, I would always just swallow and not worry about it, but it kept waking me up. So I decided to fight the urge to swallow and when sleep paralysis hit, the urge was gone. This happened about a week ago and I haven't been able to do it again yet.

Don't worry about not moving or not swallowing, go back to sleep as you normally do. When you're completely relaxed, you might want to focus your attention on something.
