How should I start attempting lucids? I will start a dream journal tonight but after that.. what should I do? MILD attempt? After how many days/weeks?
Hey there, welcome! Starting a dream journal is definitely the way to go. If you wanted, you could even post it on here. How good is your recall? If you regularly remember dreams anyway, there's no point waiting to build recall before you try some techniques.
I'll be honest, I still don't really know what MILD is. Never used it. :S Doing reality checks throughout the day (say whenever you notice something weird, coincidental, or just at intervals) is a great way to increase your chances of a DILD (Dream-initiated-lucid-dream)- because one time, you'll test reality... and the test will fail. Jackpot, lucidity! Habits like that carry over to dreams, that's why reality-checks work. There's a type of WILD which is really easy, called DEILD. (Make sure to check out the "Other Useful Links" bit at the bottom of that post, helps to have a few perspectives. I made use of DEILD quite a lot when I started... I think it's my favourite.
You could try a standard WILD if your recall isn't great- because you go straight into a dream from being awake, you're not going to forget that. (That tutorial looks complicated as shit, but don't let it put you off- look at the other useful links part again) There's a multitude of different techniques out there, but no-one can tell you which is the best for you, as everyone's different. Just try a few basic approaches and find what works best for you. Best of luck, if you have any questions fire away, feel free to drop myself or anyone a PM, we're happy to help.
sup man
i dont really know what MILD is either-
i suggest you start my improving your dream recall until you can remember at least 2-3 dreams or fragments per night. it sucks to lucid dream and then forget it completely...
you can try with DILDs, but i personally prefer the WILD technique, and for entering sleep paralysis i think a member on here (yoshi?) had a good technique that works (for me) to do it...
I meant to say DILD, I heard that is the easiest.
Is the best way to improve recall just to have a dream journal?
Pretty much, yeah! The act of trying to remember your dreams and writing them down attaches more significance to your dreams subconsciously- making it more likely that you'll remember more. Also, a mantra like Aerial suggested is a good idea.Quote:
