Question Was this a lucid dream?

      Hi everyone,

I'm Louie. I usually have dreams about 7 times a week, and remember 5 or more in detail. In all my dreams something happens or appears that is clearly not possible. However, I just "roll" with them. Here's an example.

I'm a military plane fanatic, so sometimes planes appear in my dreams. However, they will always have a major flaw in the design, paint job, or even the name. In the dream I do not care. But when I wake up I start ranting on how it was "historically inaccurate".

Recently, my friend told me about lucid dreaming. I thought it was a very interesting thing, but for the past few weeks it kind of just sat at the back of my mind. Until last night.

In my dream, I was somewhere tropical (This is not suprising because we go on cruises twice a year). It was about to rain. I was walking in a parking lot when the "cue" appeared: Unusual objects. They looked like German stick grenades but with two handles and in bright colors. It dawned on me that I was dreaming. Suddenly, everything became vivid and realistic to the point where I questioned myself if I was actually in reality. Then, I noticed I could control my movements, though very slowly and stiffly at first.

I then recalled that my friend had told me that in later stages of lucid dreaming you could make any object you want appear. So, I turned around, and when I turned back again I made a real Soviet MiG-21PF jet fighter appear on the spot. It was accurate down to the last detail. But for some reason, after I made it appear I just decided to let the dream carry on by itself. However, the parts preceding I made the MiG-21PF were no less vivid.

We walked to the beach, but then I remembered my left hand was still dirty. So I jumped in the water, forgetting that my cellphone was still in pocket. I quickly jumped out to check if it was still ok, and it was. I don't really remember anything after that, though.

Unfortunately, I woke up early, at 5:00 in the morning.

So my question is...Was this a lucid dream, dream control, etc.?

Louie, congrats on your first lucid dream! Yes this is in fact a lucid dream, you should read my thread about my first lucid dream I had last night, after only knowing about lucid dreaming for 3 days. As for dream control, yes you had control but very very little, which is exactly how my first lucid dream went. "Then, I noticed I could control my movements, though very slowly and stiffly at first." That is how I was, it was as if I was a new born again, learning to walk for the first time, but only for about 10 seconds. Anyways if your interested into learning how to master this wonderful skill such as I am, i suggest reading the tutorials on dream control and stuff like that. ^.^ welcome to DV.

Yes, you're right that I had only very very little control. After I made the MiG, I felt like I wanted to control my dream further, but for some reason I felt something was limiting me. Because if I could control my dream further, I probably would have placed myself in a bomber right in World War II. Thanks for being so informative and replying to my post so quickly!

Yes, if you were aware while you were dreaming that you were dreaming, then it was a lucid dream
