My Introduction
Hi, I thought I'd introduce myself.
My apologies if this topic is disorganized; I'm working on a computer that I don't feel comfortable using, so it kind of throws me off when trying to post messages :?
First off, a bit about me; I'm refuge. I'm currently 20 years old, and in my third year of college for Computer Security.
I first started studying dreams about three years ago in college, when I had a paper to write on the subject. Since then, I wrote an article on Lucid Dreaming (it's here, if anyone wants to read it), and I am always trying to find new ways and methods in this subject.
It's funny; after all the things I have "discovered" before venturing out into the internet, I came here to find that those things have already been mentioned here, and even have their own acronyms :panic:
For instance, my first Lucid Dream is an example.
By this point, I've already read some books on Lucid Dreaming, and have been trying to get lucid for a few weeks. Now, have you ever had a morning, where you wake up from a dream, and you're still half-asleep? During this time, you may be able to even close your eyes, and still "see" the dream, and maybe still hear the dream; if you managed to get back to sleep, you can usually re-enter that dream.
One morning I woke up from a dream where I was in a race car, on a NASCAR track. When I woke up that morning, I was still half-asleep; I could close my eyes and see the racecar though my POV. I carefully tried not to "wake up" all the way, and started working on getting back to sleep, while trying to hold onto my consciousness (so-to-speak). Well, eventually I was back in the race car; I knew I was fully in the dream, because I went to move my arm, and it moved in the dream, and not in the bed (if you know what I mean). I was lucid, but I wasn't sure what to do exactly, so I did the only thing I could think of -- I made the car I was driving, fly. By this point, I could feel the car flying, I could see it flying, I could even steer it, but it only lasted a few seconds, as the "shock" of the lucid dream woke me up
Actually, it was my only lucid dream that didn't induce a "False Awakening" -- something I'm sure a moderate amount of you guys are probably familiar with.
Earlier today, I realized this is a common technique
Anyway, I've had a moderate amount of lucid dreams since then, but they were all dreams where I managed to become lucid within the dream (via triggers); it mainly happens when I see a loved one that passed away, or when I remember to question if I'm dreaming (and maybe, look at my watch).
I don't want to bore you guys with the lucid dreams I've had, so I think I'll end my introduction here.
Anyways, glad to have found this place.

Hi Refuge, welcome to Dreamviews!
I know what you mean by being half-awake and still seeing the dream. I've had instances where I'm in bed, still visually encased in a dream, but I can also see my mother leaning over me and hear her telling me to wake up.

Hey, welcome to DV! Your dream was really interesting, seriously. Now I want to make a car fly with me in it. I think my dad would get a kick out of it if I told him about flying NASCAR...
I'm so glad you found this place, it's really wonderful. There are many tutorials if you haven't seen them yet, and we're willing to answer any questions you may have.
Lastly, false awakenings can be so mind-blowing! I haven't had that many, so when I have more I may be saying, "False awakenings can be so annoying!". We'll see.
For me, it's déjà vu. I get it fairly often in dreams and it drives me crazy when I wake up trying to figure out if I really did have that type of dream before or if it's just déjà vu again. :?
Once again, :welcome: and enjoy your stay!

Welcome!
It's great to know that your fairly set when it comes to lucid dream induction. That's always a good think. While your on dreamviews you can find tons of ways on controlling your dreams, whether it be stabilizing them or performing crazy actions it's all here.
Dream you have via INTERNAL triggers are called DILD- Dream Initiated Lucid Dream. This happens when your in a dream, and you realize your dreaming, whether you just randomly question yourself or see a sign.
By the Way , your first Lucid Dream sounds like a DEILD-Dream Exited Induced Lucid dream. You woke up from a dream, and then got back in it. Of course you can find more about this in the Tutorials section of the main web-page.
Yea you would be surprised what you'd find on the internet. I almost wrote a few things about dreams until I found pretty much everything I had to say, covered.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone.
Excluding my first Lucid Dream, every LD I've had ended up ending with a false awakening (and in one case, TWO false awakenings!). Even a lucid dream I had last night (which ironically, was the very first lucid dream I attempted to "fly" in), I ended up having a false awakening which ended when I was telling my mom about a dream I had before the lucid one.
Also, thanks for some explanation on the acronyms; I'm still trying to grasp them, currently in the Tutorials section as we speak; a wreath of information on this site!
