Sleep Paralysis? Please help!

This has happened to me in the past a good amount of times and it just happened again last night (early this morning), 6-28-10. I finally went to sleep at 3:15am*. Unsure if I was dreaming or not before this, but I was awoken 15 minutes later by the feeling of being lifted or raised up feet first straight up from where I was laying on my bed. I'm not sure if I was awake yet or not but I also heard the sound my bed made as I landed back down onto the bed just as I woke up. Can anyone explain this to me? I would really appreciate it.

* My sleep schedule is a little out of whack right now, I tried fixing it yesterday by taking a 2 hour nap and then going to sleep early last night, but I ended up napping for 7 hours.

Sorry if this has been asked and resolved already in this forums previously, I am at work and not suppose to be on this site at all, I just wanted to get this into words as quick as possible to be as descriptive as possible. Thank you.

i get sleep paralysis. its scary and i can never go back to sleep straight after. its when i wake but am still in between sleep an reality, i can hear eveything around me etc but cant open my eyes or move or speak, sumtimes it has happend dat i think im awake an everything in my room is da same an i can open eyes with alot of effort but again cant move i try to scream an wake myself up an eventually do an am gasping for air at the end of it....mad dont understand it.....

I get sleep paralysis sometimes in reality but mostly in my dreams. I thought I woke up but it was really a false awaking. I couldn't move for like 10 seconds but then I woke up and started moving. Weird.

Actually, it's almost impossible to tell if you are ACTUALLY in sleep paralysis, or dreaming that you are in sleep paralysis. The reason for this is that during SP, most of the times we have hypnagogic hallucinations, which include imagery and sounds. This means that even though we might be awake, we see and hear stuff that are not really there, such as the common old hag, or a dwarf sitting in your chest, one time I even saw a magic act. However, no matter if you are dreaming that you are in SP, or if you are actually in SP, you can take advantage of it. Try to make a transition to a dream by imagining a scenario, actually building a scenario, put people there, sounds, images, even smells and try to "step" into your own little dream. Other thing you could do, which will only work if you're dreaming is saying to yourself (and believing it) "Sleep paralysis will end NOW", this worked for me a couple of time and went on with my lucid dream :). When you're falling asleep, it is normal to get wacky hallucinations of movement or body distortions. Try to pay attention to them, and maybe they can help you learn to WILD.

When you get sleep paralysis just give into it!

You'll be able to jump right out of your body and into a Lucid Dream! thats what i do anyway

this happend to me yesterday!
scariest thing ever.
So i was at my carpools house and i was terribly tired cause school disnt start till' 8:30 and it was 6:10 so i thought that maby i should take a nap.
I rested my head on the couch and my arms were crossed together,
then when i woke up all i saw was black.
I was uncapable of opening my eyes, moving my legs, or uncrisscrossing my arms.
I just dreamt my carpool driver being there and i was trying to say her name so she could help me, but i couldnt move my mouth.
I was scared out of my freaking mind. No joke.
It was by then 6:30, so i took another nap,
i tried to wake up again and IT HAPPEND AGAIN!!!
D: i was scareddddd.

i dont kno if you'll ever see thios but you were very close to having what is called an obe. u should reasearch it. its very very interesting
