Am i a sufferer of lucid dreaming / OOBE? I'm new here so i can understand.

Hi there,

Since i was a child I have been experiencing weird things when i sleep (even for a nap). It wasn't frequent until i hit my teens and the frequency changed. Sometimes i would have these several time's a week, twice a night and several time's a month. It would stop for a few months maybe, and then start again. The longest i've been without any interruption is 6 months i think.

I've never wanted to find out what i was experiencing as when i was young and told my mum, she said it was a ghost sitting on me! The only other time i've mentioned my experiences was when i got my first one in my teens and my colleague didn't respond. Since then i never said a word to anyone.

I'm here as I got one last night after several months and i said i'm going to find out what was going on. (I actually say this everytime i get them but have never done it). As i've experienced so many times, I'm not scared as i wake up all the time, but i'd be lying to say that i'm not 100% scared. I always battle with my vibrations and dreams. I get annoyed with them as they interrupt my sleeping.

Basically, in the past i've experienced voices in my head, vibrations some really bad, floating, my room like i've woken up and then wanting to go back to sleep so i try and then i wake up thinking eh? and....the list goes on. All of them i have vibrations ans can't move. It doesn't matter where i am either i.e. i've moved houses and have taken 1 yr ou abroad and i still get them. If i catch myself at the vibration stage i really try hard to battle it out and stop vibrating (sometimes it starts again soon after though). But when it goes past that, i just let it be untill i realise, start panicking and try to battle it out.

I am on this forum as i googled words top describe my experience an lucid dreaming and out of body experiences came up. I haven't started reading this forum to see if i'm on the right track but i think members here will be able to direct me as i havent told anyone really and don't know how to explain my vibrations and paralysis etc.

It's sleep paralysis. Occurs when your body is asleep, but your mind does not. It's a normal thing that occurs to everyone - except that their mind is asleep when it happens, so they don't see it happening, they are usually asleep. What you experiences is the hallucinations produced by your brain, ''trying'' to explain its state, it's perfect normal, it's not any ghost sitting or touching you.
The sleep paralysis occurs so you don't move during your sleep (otherwise, you would be beating the shit out of everyone when you are sleeping and dreaming - hehe).
People uses it with the technique WILD, you could use the SP (sleep paralysis) to enter in a lucid dream.

You can't be a sufferer of lucid dreaming because lucid dreaming is a good thing. Lucid dreamig is when you know your dreaming while your dreaming. Like brunor said what your experiencing is when your body goes into sleep paralysis befor you fall asleep. The reason lucid dreaming and out of body experiences poped up is because it can be used to induce a WILD (wake induced lucid dream) and OOBEs. I think you should not wory about the hallucination because thats all they are and you should take advantage of them and try lucid dreaming.

You are actually quite lucky to have those vibrations.

Instead of fighting them, use them and eventually master it.

Next time it happens, try to go along with it, you are perfectly safe. While you have these vibrations, intent to enter a dream consciously or go out of body.

Lots of material on this site, I'm sure you can use some of it.

thanks for responding. I've had a gander on here and it doesn't seem that what i experienced is harmful?

So far all i've ever wanted was to stop the vibrations, "waking up" etc. Whever I feel vibrations or are in the middle of them i start panicking and fight by straining to move. I have however learnt a little bit on here and i'm glad that there are others who have experienced this. I noticed that the time's i get this is mostly when i sleep on my back. Also if i have a leg sticking out. But maybe me noticing my leg sticking out is cos of my mum saying that a ghost was sitting on me lol and also i felt really really vulnerable with it out and unable to move.

I'm not scared with what i experience, but scared enough to go further. I've always tried to keep my eyes shut and focus of getting out. I don't often stop and think. I'm reading the forum and most of them are people's dreams and experiences. I have never allowed myself to go that far (i have had dreams in my room/house then get freaked out as doors are open or i'm looking at what is a ceiling i think) and then i wake up thinking wtf!!!

Can someone please explain to me (or point me in the right direction as so far i see threads about people's dreams....

If i wake up whist vibrating and after it, does this count as loosing sleep? Do you guys after dreaming feel tired in the morning?

Also, why is my brain waking up when clearly i'm sleeping. The vibrations wake me up as if i'm rudely disturbed lol. My body/brain should know better right?

The more i read this forum, the more i'm accepting it. Having read threads that people want to try vibrating (yes initially i thought those people were craxy!) and experiencing has made me thing that i could get positive things out of it. I just can't relax when i vibrate and paralysed though.

So please tell me how long you vibrate for without fighting it? If i relax, will the vibrations be light (i've had horrid bad ones you see).

Also, I can't voluntarily experience them and don't think i'm ready to learn to do them voluntarily. If someone can reply back to my questions, i'd be more at ease and understand it better.

As we said, the sleep paralysis, that is what you are experiencing, is perfect normal for everyone: But it occurs to people when they are usually sleeping, so one does not start walking ou moving when dreaming. They don't feel it happening.

I don't know how you should proceed, as I never had those vibrations or experienced sleep paralysis while awake.
Do you want to try lucid dreaming through your sleep paralysis ? You should try the WILD technique (Wake Initiated Lucid Dream), if you want to understand and lucid dream using your sleep paralysis.
I don't know what you should do about the vibrations, but if you relax and take it easy, it will eventually be smoother.
Try asking people who use the WILD technique, they usually go through vibrations and sleep paralysis, so they will know better what you should do.

About being tired, It does not happen to me, and it does not should happen to you, if you sleep a constant time, I don't see the sleep paralysis causing this tiredness; but you should wait for people who practice WILD confirm this.

Don't be scared or try to fight it, that is the very reason it is a bad experience for your. Just enjoy it and it will be enjoyable. Fear it ad it will be frightening. Know it is just your imagination and don't be scared of it because the more you try to fight it the stronger the vibrations, paralysis, and hallucinations can become. This forum is actualy about dreaming, thats why its called dreamviews and has mostly topics about dreaming. :P This is probably the best place to find information about SP though because people here deal with it all the time.

Damn I wish I can have those vibrations without even practicing! You are lucky u know. . . some people have to train for months to reach that level of being awake and body asleep (sleep paralysis) and using it to have lucid dreams ect. . .

I am one of those crazy people who wants my body to fall asleep while my brain stays awake. It is not that I want to experience the vibrations and paralysis, those are just often affects your body feels when going into this state. Through this state one can go into a lucid dream. If you haven't already gotten the idea from looking around this site, lucid dreams can be really fun and amazing experiences. When you know you are dreaming, you can learn to control a dream so you can do almost anything in your dreamworld.

Often, when going into a dream state after sleep paralysis like you are experiencing, you will have a false awakening. Those are those times when you think you are awake in your room but things look different or you are floating. False awakenings are just dreams. If you can learn to relax and stay positive through sleep paralysis and you find yourself in a false awakening, you are actually lucky. Just remember you are in a dream, and then you can get up and fly around the house or fly outside or even open your bedroom door into any place you want to be.

I experienced sleep paralysis a few times before I knew its potential for being a good experience, and it was scary. Now if I have vibrations and paralysis I am really excited because I know in just a few moments I will be ruler in my own dreamworld!
