So I just came across this video advertising an event by some environmental group. Check it out: |

Hahaha... oh my God. This just takes it to a whole new level... I mean seriously, it's so ridiculously overt it's like the environmental loonie brigade has just said 'you know what, fuck all this pretence and pussy footing around, let's just shoot all the non-vegan bastards'. |
|
Scaring the audience into thinking that there are people who want you to die for not doing what they say looks an awful lot like terrorism. |
|
It's an internet commercial of which they put on YouTube on an official channel and their website. They have since taken it down. |
|
Heh. It was kind of funny. Lighten up. |
|
I am going to increase my emissions by 10 percent just to spite these crazies and get a good laugh. |

Exactly. It's kind of funny. |

Haha. I used that phrase, but not as a term against enviornmentalists in general, but only aimed at the crazy ones. For sure, most aren't crazy and instead are just concerned about the environment. I can respect that. But some are totally nutso about it. When you may use the phrase religous extremists, are you trying to insinuate that most religous people are extremists? Of course not. For example, whoever funded/wrote this commercial being totally serious is taking it too far. I'm not offended, but a bit concerned as to what state of mind the producers of this puppy would have to be in to give this a go. |

Wow that was disturbing video. They didn't even get their point across correctly. It could have a subliminal effect in which it says its O.K to hurt those who disagree with you. That is wrong and terrible. Thank god they took it off air. |

Formally Known as MrBlonde.
Yes, I'm sure you're scarred for life. |

You are studying math, Xei? Maybe you can help the rest of us understand a good chunk of xkcd, then... |

It's also a profession. Like I said, there are heaps of people that make a living off of it. |

I'm pretty sure that studying the environment is a science. I took an environmental science course, and it's a huge, relevant field. The science also shows plainly how we are destroying the environment. Denying the reality of it in favor for the status quo is more of an ideology. |

DILDs: A Lot
I don't actively campaign but I do strive to live a green life. Our electricity comes from solar panels, I use public transport, we grow quite a bit of our own food, and we compost our non-edible waste and feed our edible waste to our chickens. |
|
That's really good. Limiting consumption of resources is something I should really do more of. The video, however, aside from being stupid and off-putting, wastes it's time. Rather than focus on general lack of waste, it emphasizes on carbon emissions. I thought that was the big thing two years ago, but people have finally started to realize that CO2 is one of the smaller things we are doing to the environment. At the very least, it is a symptom of the over-all problem, (if CO2 is a significant problem at all.) |

My statement was aimed at the fact that the ad portrayed environmentalists as extremists. How exactly is this kind of propaganda supposed to support the cause? It looks more like an inside joke among militant environmentalists than a positive "pro green" message to share with the masses. |
|
No, I don't, mainly for the reason that it is counter productive. Yet I can appreciate the grim sense of humor and the completely overdrawn way they use to get across the urgency of the issue. "No Pressure" - It's funny. That they chose an elementary school in their first shot takes it even further. Furthermore, they do have a point. |
