I'd absolutely be interested in visiting/working in Antarctica, too bad there aren't a lot of non-specialized job opportunities there for my country... |

I was looking online and found out that they have a lot of jobs in antartica. Yea I know, who want to go there. But I found out that its not so bad there. If you qualify, they pay for your flights, the food is free, and the clothing is free. And you get paid. And what people have said, its a fun experience. You can watch tve, play video games, weightlift, ski, hike, camp, and so on. But you do work a lot. Probably like 60-70 hours a week. But all the money you earn just goes straight to your pocket because you don't pay for anything. The good thing is that you don't have to have a college degree to do it. The only jobs I'm qualified for is chef cook assistant, house keeping, and general assistant. I would apply for general assistant because you get to a variety of thing. If I wanted to do a housekeeping position I would have to have some experience with it, but when I saw the people who had that psotion in the past, most were young people. Its only 4 months and I would do it during the summer time, which is oct-feb. So I'd have to wait till next year. I think it would be an awsome experience. Its the same as your home area but on ice haha. Do think this sounds cool? It seems crazy, but I think its the experience I'm looking for. And at least your aloud to drink there too. So I can't party on my free days. That's if I can get the job. |

Sounds great, I'd do it, you can't lose with 4 month, it's nothing. |

Could you post a link? I have a job (which may turn to training for another job if I am super lucky), bit after that training I could be an electrician, which may be of use. |

Well if you live in America then I gave this link The USAP Portal: Science and Support in Antarctica - Jobs and Opportunities. I think they have links for other countries to on there, but you can always just google it to. Also I found a nice article about what its like working in Antartica from a guy whos worked there before. Its kind of funny at some points and makes me want to go even more Antarctica. The guy who talks about the experience was working at one of the smaller base and if you have one of the lower jobs, like the ones I mentioned I was qualified for, then you will most likely be working at the larger base. |
