I wasn't exactly sure where to post this because it could go in several places, but I thought I'd put it here just because the Lounge is kind of in the middle of it all
INFO:
So, as the title says, I made an Inception-themed animated desktop wallpaper for Windows DreamScene. Basically it just takes a slightly modified clip from the film showing Cobb's totem spinning in a looping video. It's not too fancy, but just as is the case with the totem itself, its simplicity is its beauty

INSTALLATION:
1 - Download the animated wallpaper from this link.
2a - Open up the .zip using your favorite compression software. There are two videos inside, marked 1050p and 1080p. The actual video itself is the same, but the 1050p version is formatted for 16:10 screens (i.e. 1680x1050) and the 1080p version is formatted for 16:9 screens (i.e. 1920x1080). If you don't know which kind of screen you have (or you are still using a 4:3 screen) go with the 1050p version, since it is in the middle and will stretch to fit your screen gracefully.
2b - Once you know which video to use as the wallpaper, extract it from the .zip to anywhere on your hard drive (default location for DreamScene users is C:\Windows\Web\DreamScene)
3a - Now it's time to actually set up the animated wallpaper, and there are a couple of ways to do this.
3b - If you are a Vista Ultimate user, you'll already have Windows DreamScene, so just right click on the video and choose 'set as desktop wallpaper' or do the same via the Personalization menus.
3c - If you are on another version of Vista or any version of Windows 7, you'll need to check out installation instructions for DreamScene here, as it will not arrive packaged with the Operating System. Once you have DreamScene installed, you can follow the same procedure as 3b.
3d - For other OS users, (or those who just prefer not to use DreamScene) you will need to download VLC player for your OS and use it to set your animated wallpaper (instructions for XP, Linux, OSX)
4 - Turn the wallpaper into a reminder that will help you lucid dream. Personally, I give my totem a spin every time I see the wallpaper and then do the nose-pinch reality check right after, just to be doubly sure, but be creative and do whatever works for you
