well poverty in America is pretty much non-existant...and things are slowly improving, not only in America but other countries as well. so I'm not too worried.

well, maybe they are getting better in the US, but in 3rd world countries and such a polarization is taking place, and the rich keep getting richer as the poor keep getting poorer...it is quite sad, really

oy, the age old "solution" of throwing money at the problem.

If you are actually interested in this problem and solving it, (yes that's right throwing money at a problem does not make it go away), I would recommend reading Hernando DeSoto's book The Mystery of Capital: Why Capitalism Triumphs in the West and Fails Everywhere Else

I don't mean to slap Make Poverty End in the face, but the problem of global poverty is an economic issue, and you have to go much deeper than just changing international trade rules and sending more aid to poor countries.
