Why not many men take Ballroom Dance lessons and think ballroom is for sissys?

I'm single male. and don't have many friends(if any) and I'm going to sign up for dance soon. I've done it before. It was awesome.

But i notice that there's not many guys that take dance. MOst highschool guys are macho and just take football or something.

Are some guys just afraid of dancing cause htey're afriad to be seen moving their bodies that do not fit the stereotipical male?

But you know what? Even Brucelee took dance and was very into dancing. hehe. that's interesting.

Hey, ballroom is fun. Go let the other dudes pound salt or kill each other on the field. Meanwhile, you'll be showing off your confidence to the disproportionate number of women in your class.

Hey, just showing up speaks volumes. Here you are, a fine young man, confident enough in your sexuality to pursue dance. Just take charge and lead like you know what the hell you're doing, even if you don't, and you'll be fine.

In Germany it was quite normal that most of the people took dance lessons.

I'm female, and I personally would never be able to do such a thing, from social anxiety and sheer embarrassment. When I was in high school, I had to get a note from a psychiatrist excusing me from the otherwise manditory dance class we had to take as part of PE.

Anyway, if you're good at it, or even if you're not but are confident, I imagine you'll do well and are making a good decision. Most of the girls will probably be impressed with your maturity in not falling for the "dancing is gay" attitude with most of the rest of the males in your school.

Ooh really? My head of Maths was a really soft spoken German and he turned out to be a ballroom dancer.

I think you have it right. Everyone sucks when learning new things, and being in a room full of people, with them all watching you suck can make people feel nervous. Of course most people in the class probably also suck and are more worried about them self than you, but that doesn't stop some people from worrying any way.

Either that or they'll assume you're gay, too.

That part. I know enough salsa so I can pass by and not look like a complete fool, but I feel ballroom dancing would also come in handy one day or another. Having a bunch of women in class is always another bonus.

Well, I have very little dance experience. I done gymnastics dance to music, but that's basically a couple of turns, some arm movements, with some splits thrown in followed off with a few flips and japanas. Nowadays I just go to indie-rock concerts and jump around hehe.

But I really respect guys who take it up. And you need to be strong to do it! And flexible... Which are both very good things

True. They are high school girls, after all. Don't be surprised if some of them, at least at first, get a bit giggly. But their opinions don't matter, and will likely change as they get older and more mature.
