      :(

      my mutant hen is gone

all i found left of her was a pile of feathers stupid possum, coytoye, whatever took her! and the poor girl cant even defend herself! now i cant stop crying if she got sick i wouldnt feel so bad, because i could have taken care of her and prepared for her death. but now i just feel soooo horrible, i didnt even get to say goodbye

yes, this all sounds very stupid, but she wasnt a stupid hen. she thought i was her mother because i took care of her since she was a tiny chick. now im never going to see her again. and now i have a big headache

That totally SUCKS. The poor hen I hate fucking coyotes and shit. They're always trying to eat our little baby chicks and geese as well, but luckily enough we have a gun brandishing madman that lives next door who fires his gun at anything that moves, so they keep the hell away. (Hurrah for mad gun brandishing men!)

I hope you feel better after a while. I know how bad it feels to lose a pet, well, no, a member of your family. More than just a pet... I'm so sorry to hear this.

When I was younger our neighbor pointed his gun at my little sis and I for eating his grapes. He didn't shoot or anything but it wus really scary! I remember telling my sis to lay down and pretend like you were invisible and it would work! LOL

we still ate that mans grapes after that. they were sooo sweet and tasty good!

      Re: :(

Je33ica, I am so sorry about your hen. With my little dog dying.. the following below brings me comfort and I hope it will do the same for you..

      Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.

Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet,
so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Nina, Bailey was only about 7 lbs but she wanted to sit on the table while they gave her the shot (she didn't want to lay down).
So I knelt down til we were face to face and I gently cradled her sweet face in my hands.
I kept telling her that I loved her.. and I kept looking into her eyes until I knew that she could no longer see me, her head then relaxed in my hands and she was gone.
It was all very sad but very peaceful..

Give your doggie a squeeze for me..

I'm sorry to hear about that Je33ica and Clarity. I lost four fish this semester and even though "they're only fish" they were mine and I loved them. Maybe I'll meet them (and my Misty ) on the Rainbow Bridge as well. You two are some of my favorite people here at DV and I hope that you both feel better soon. I'm sure your pets loved you and await your reunion

Clairity your story about Rainbow Bridge and then your telling about your little doggie made me cry! I have only had one pet die that was really important to me and i hope he runs and plays at Rainbow Bridge. I know your dog and Je33ica's hen are there now too.

I am so sorry for your loss Je33ica! I think pets are one of the most important loves in this life because it is so unconditional. Everyone should be so lucky to experience it. This is my puppy that i have had to give up. I am just very thankful that she is still in my family (with my parents) because it broke my heart to leave her behind!

Jessica, I'm so sorry....I remember loosing both my cats Snee and Thor last summer. It was so painful!! First, my mom (against my strong argument against it) dipped cats in 'Happy Jack' along with the dogs.....I told her it would hurt them, but she did so anyway, and it poisoned our cats....Thor just ran off somewhere and died, and we found him later. As if that wasn't enough, we found our other cat hiding, sick but not dead. We washed him with actual 'cat shampoo' to get the poision off of his fur, but even then it was too late...it had somehow gotten into his nervous system, and in the middle of the night, he went into extreme convulsions that did not stop all day. We cradled him in a towel and fed him water and chicken broth through a straw and talked to him. He even got better, after it passed through his system. The same week, he got hit by a car and was killed. Our dominant cat wasn't around to keep him close to the house. What a painful time! I'm so sorry for your loss....It's our losses that make us appreciate what we have, though. I'm at least thankful for that.
      Shine on, you crazy diamond!

Ame, as you stated they were your fish and therefore they shared a piece of your heart..
I'm sure they along with Misty are biding their time on the Rainbow Bridge awaiting your arrival.

P.S.. you're one of my favorite people as well.

Alaurast78, it was very hard but my husband was with me rubbing my back and he didn't cry..
not until the Vet took Bailey's body away.. he said he wanted to be strong for me
but in the end we just held each other and cried.

Give your puppy a hug for me..
