I even typed down the dreams while I was in the car going to College Station while my father was driving.
I think something you should practice is that when you do have the time to recall your dreams, when you do have the tranquility and silence that you deserve to type out your dreams, don't just type them as your mind helps you collect them. Try to remember key things in the dreams, like one of the dreams I had last night or early morning, even though I didn't have time to write the whole content down, I knew the main thing that lured me was "Lips"
So I held on to that thought "red lips," and when I had time to think about it, I thought about red lips, and was able to recall the dream just fine, in fact, my recall of it was a bit too long, but either way, that's good because I'm getting my recall up so that I can remember any shared dreaming attempts I'll have in the future when I become lucid.
Yes, sometimes real life can be a pain in the ass and force us to try and forget our dreams, but if you condense each dream to a few key categories, and if you practice it gradually, you won't get it on the first try, you'll be able to recall much better and branch out your experiences better.
This way, even if you do have to forget about typing your dream journal, it will be less of a "burden" for you throughout the day because you'll rely on those key categories. And when you add imagery to it, it just makes it even better, which is why I try to use a lot of images, but just enough so that I can glance over and know what I experienced already. And sometimes if the dream recall is longer, I add more images to help link each part together.
If you try this, even when you have to deal with waking life ordeals, you'll be able to trace back to those dreams.
Then again, maybe it's because I'm used to remembering a lot of experiences from having a somewhat consistent dream journal :P
