I know that I, personally, am never going to have kids. Ever. I even find most pets to be high-maintenance, so... I'd be a terrible father. XD
So, really I think these days the people who want large families are starting to be balanced out by the people who don't want kids at all. Even 50 years ago, it was almost taboo to not want to start a family... it was just "what you were supposed to do". Now that there's not such a stigma around remaining single, or just not having kids, a lot of people are going that route. I think it will balance itself out in the end. The big problem is, as others have said, the families that have kids well before they're prepared to, and are forced to put them up for adoption. But I think education on the true costs (financially and emotionally) of being a parent is improving, too.
And Suena, I spend a lot of time wishing for world peace, too. Glad I'm not the only one. :content:
I don't have a problem with people drinking, what I do have a problem with is people who can't handle drinking but do it anyways, nuff said.
Oh yeah had a dream a few days ago, It was about Rae, goes who I saw at the lake yesterday, Bullshit, I shouldn't have stress and anxiety like this.
I think if there's going to ever be a child limit, people need to be sterilized after x amount of kids. I read on CNN about a forced late term abortion on a Chinese woman. That's just heart-breaking.
But then you just open a whole new can of worms. What if one of their kids dies? What if the forced sterilization is abused (like Eugenics).
But I agree with what Suena said: we have the space and resources but people don't know how to share.
I smeared Muscle Rub all over me earlier then went back to sleep. I woke with very slight discomfort but the worst seemed to have been averted  I need to get those antibiotics from hubby now. Chances are it's NOT an ovarian cyst and it still feels mostly like UT pain. Maybe I have a kidney stone or something. I REALLY don't want to go to the doctors. Hmmm... then again... I *think* the doctor my hubby helped out is a general practicioner (why can I never spell that word lol). They seem to get along, so maybe I'll make an appointment with him.
Hubby distrusts a lot of the local doctors and would make a big stink about me seeing someone far away. I would have no problem seeing a Dr. if he's local, I just hate all the politics and my hubby's nagging.
It's very hot. I have an AC unit in my room so I'm comfy. But the boys only have a fan. For some reason the living room and my room are on the same circuit and we already blew a fuse once today. I hope that doesn't become standard.
hehee, Dakotah. Hubby's a jack of all trades. He started out as a nuclear physicist then went through accelerated medical school to become an eye surgeon. He knows too much about a lot of stuff. He does all of his own home repairs and has rebuilt cars in the past. Now he's 68 years old and he tires too easily so he often hires others now to do smaller tasks... but then he hovers over them and tells them how to properly do it lol. Not really, but it does seem that way :cackle:
More often, things just don't get done anymore.
Education will be the best remedy. People need to learn they shouldn't give birth more than they can afford or everyone's going to suffer together. If I didn't remember wrongly, Chinese and Indian favour boys over girls so they will readily abort or abandon a female baby.
Muslims have an issue with child control too because they are not allowed to masturbate and they cannot abort their child, not to mention using contraceptives and condoms because they are forbidden to prevent birth. Imagine the number of children you will give birth to in that way.
Child limit would be fun in my country.
I think i'm better off if i don't say more than that :P
The fuse box IS going to be an on-going problem. We moved the fan into a new room, but it's still not enough. My computer and AC, and their TV and Playstation all run off the same breaker. Tonight, we'll move the living room into another room (we have 2 living rooms and one's not used as anything). Until then, we'll be alternating computer and playstation time.
There are so many angry/aggressive people on the internet. It's annoying... and they look like ignorant fools.
I decided to run my knee into the tiller attachment on the back of a tractor. (luckily it wasn't on) Now I have a nice bloody scab on my knee.
Zhaylin: I don't want to step on your toes or anything. So just ignore this if ou don't want to answer it. But why do you and your husband live apart? You guys don't seem to have any martial issues. Just curious. You know, just not the most common thing.
My rant is that my dad just doesn't seem to care. I'm going to get my car out of the body shop this weekend so I told him that I couldn't come over. And all he replies is "k". I don't want him to be heart broken or anything but I haven't seen him in two weeks. And I won't be able to for another week. I'm kinda upset about not seeing him, why isn't he? Maybe he is just put out about me postponing our weekend at the last minute. I wanted to tell him earlier but I couldn't find my phone.
Didn't actually expect a discussion on this, but it's awesome that there is.
It's a good idea. But.... you're not thinking about all the other living organisms. There's more than enough room for probably 100 billions people. If we spread out.
But we will be encroaching even more than we already are in to other animal's habitats.
People who move out in to the bush already say they want to be able to cut down trees (in Australia, this is forbidden to an extent) because "it is a danger" to them.
If you want to live in the bush, DON'T CUT DOWN ALL THE FUCKING TREES, OTHERWISE IT'S NOT THE BUSH ANYMORE!
Off the point, sorry. Point is, if we all spread out in to the less populated areas, they will eventually be more populated, land is cleared for houses, land around the house is cleared for they're worthless safety.
etc.
We'll just end up the same as we are now, but 1000000 times worse.
This is definitely true. All of it.
It also relates to what I said in another recent post. Pretty much half the world is in poverty. If we cut work hours in half (4 hours a day), we could get everyone in a job.
Wages would have to stay liveable.
It's simple as fuck, but the people with all the money now won't let it happen too easily. However I also do not think it will be too long before this is absolutely unavoidable.
I kind of got turned off the Zeitgeist movement a bit when they split with the Venus Project. It may be a good thing, I still like both.
I just feel they need to be together, coz one is a solution, the other just outlines problems in a way with no real though-out solution.
You have a point here too. But dreams should have limits. When your dreams take away from other people, you should change your dreams.
I dream to have a mansion and Africa as my backyard (I don't actually). But that would take away an entire country from everybody else.
That's basically what mega rich people are doing on a SLIGHTLY smaller scale.
As for what, I think Singularity, said about some people having no kids and other having lots etc.
The problem is that mostly the people having heaps of kids are uneducated and unintelligent. Which makes all our problems worse with
every generation.
Anyway. Glad you could explain your ideas Suena. :)
I'm sure all of the money apparently wasted on unemployment benefit (JSA, housing benefit etc) could go to reducing the cost of living in some fashion, or to improving wages.
I just read that essay, and it's completely sensible to me. Humans are quite the silly bunch, aren't they?
This weather is kinda annoying... It's just 32C° right now, but they say it'll can go up to 40C° during the day, IN THE SHADOWS...
I just went outside a little to check if i can go and read in the garden instead of being in the house all day... but it's impossible like this... my brain melts.
I don't know how can people like this hot weather...
Do you have air conditioning over there? If not, I'd rather be dead...no, actually, I'd camp out in the supermarket frozen food section all day.
Right, that's one place to cross off my list visiting in the summer. That's mental.
I thought they'd be as ordinary as radiators are here.
Eggman is so mean to Sonic and his friends, why is he such a jerk? :crying:
/Saturday morning cartoons.
Well it matters on the house. Our house is i think 30 years old or so?
Newer houses have them of course... and like every shop, mall, ect..
We have no money to build in an air conditioner and even if we would, it's not gonna happen since we want to move once we can :)
I couldn't work the market and accidentally bought it. I have asked two admins to take it off and both said okay... But they never did. I guess I could have asked Ophelia, she seems on top of things.
At least I know someone read my post. ;)
EDIT:I wonder if I bold my post if it would actually un bold it?
