Yes, athletes' foot is a term for itchy feet caused by fungus in America. It makes that store's name very funny to us!

The principal asked me directly if I would do summer school (I already got asked by the testing coordinator and said no). They really need ESE teachers. I don't want to do it, but I hate to stand by when I know they really need the help. It starts at 7 am in the morning, though, and I want to sleep in during my summer vacation so I can practice lucid dreaming.

This isn't my problem, this is the district's problem. This isn't my problem, this is the district's problem. Or so I keep saying to myself over and over to combat the guilt.

So, yeah I was sick this morning. Totally missed the Eclipse. Been a bit out of it all day.

No, I don't. But it's not so simple. The principal went out of his way to secure me a classroom next year - that was a big favor. I really owe him for that. Also, I care about my students and the school. I want them to be able to go on to high school. This summer school is significantly more crowded due to virtual kids failing. We're in a very bad position, and that is not an exaggeration.

I'm going to see what I can do. Obviously, I am not going to cancel my trips (my whole family is planning on going to the Smokies this summer, and I have a Snorkeling Trip "Teacher's Workshop" planned down in the keys for 5 days). I think outside of my trips, I will offer them what time I have. It won't be hard. It will also put me in a very good position with admin.

I will do what I can to continue lucid dreaming. Luckily, it's only 4 days a week, Fridays are off. Also, I will adjust my schedule accordingly so I can get as much sleep as I can on work nights. It won't be ideal, but I should still be able to practice. Also, summer school is significantly less stressful than the regular year, and I find that stress is the number #1 thing that gets in the way of my LD practice.

I am sorry to hear that. You have it hard it seems. I never get sick (I blame the daily kombucha ). Hope you feel better soon.

To be honest Moonage, I would probably just stomach it and work through the summer. It sounds like one of the best opportunities you'll ever have to solidify your reputation at work. This is only one summer out of many more to come for you

Rave: A friend who is a raven has finally attracted a mate! I saw a female sitting on his perch with him, so I have high hopes they are hitting it off. I just hope no one disturbs them as his perch is on a very important cell phone tower.

Yes! He sits in the tower I park under every day. We have been saying hi to each other for almost a year. They even took down the top of it once but he came back. He now seems to have a mate. I am very happy for both of them.
