      Feeling a lot better today..

Tomorrow I am going camping on my favorite island. Can't wait to go shelling. You won't hear from me for a few days.

Much to cry about but not much to complain about. Not much for ranting but always slightly curious as what is meant by "rave."

The next step appears to be "letting go."

Rave= sharing something you are happy about

      Ok gotcha.

Don't feel happy about anything specific. More like joy naturally arises in random moments. Mostly when i'm outdoors, active, and alone.

Rave: I had a really great camping trip at Long Point / Sebastian Inlet. I went beach glassing in the rocks on the inlet, found a shipwreck, saw dolphins and a manatee, went paddle boarding, had fun discovering different little islands around the Indian River Lagoon, found an AWESOME huge shell on my journey, and played around on Scout Island.

Rant: Yeah. I don't know why I thought it would be okay to wade in waist deep water with my phone in a little fanny pack. Yeah. Well, I had some cool pictures.

Anyone else had an extremely warm Christmas?

This was by far the warmest Christmas and December ever. Where temps were above 85 F for a few days in a row. Even when i use to live in Florida this was never the case. Also been getting a lot of heat rashes lately.

Here in Denmark it was one of the coldest Christmas'es in a long time. It was even snow covered all over the country (we have a "white Christmas" over here on average once every 11 years).
So ... is this the real universe, or is it just a preliminary study?

The warming system in your country is great, though. One of the best in the world
In Portugal, we are very bad in that regard. so, even if it is warm outside, it can be cold inside

It's been chilly at night here in Florida. I had to use the weighted blanket, sleeping bag, and fuzzy pajamas (plus socks) to sleep comfortably when we were camping. During the daytime it warmed up enough to go have fun though.

Edit: I looked it up. Apparently the low was in the mid 50s.

Guess half the world is experiencing record cold while the other half is experiencing record heat. Storms seem to be getting stronger too.

Just curious, do you know what the highs were?

I rarely keep track of the lows but its probably the same here. Mid 50s would be considered unseasonably warm in a place like New York.

Low 80s. This is not abnormal for here in December, to my knowledge. We mostly just get warm weather with occasional cool fronts.

Edit: Actually, after talking with my Mom, she says this is unusually warm. I don't know, she's probably right.

(Can't edit to add this to above post)

Thought I would share some funny things my kids said recently:

My sister gives my son (12, high functioning autism) a little doll from Mexico after her recent cruise.

My sister: “Do you want this little doll, Ian?”

      Ian: “No.”

      My sister: “It’s good luck...”

Ian: “Okay, but that is a pseudoscience."

      -----------

My daughter (8), while jumping on a trampoline at her aunt’s house, lets out a big fart. She says, “I farted! I’m using it to go HIGHER!!”

Things are going really well at work right now. My new ESE boss is very nice (fingers crossed she stays that way). I'm running IEP meetings now almost every day. Also, she asked if I would give a training to the entire department on how to complete our paperwork. I'm nervous because I've never done anything like this before, but I feel really great that she asked me.

      -----

My mom and I are in the kitchen the other day, chuckling about the odd shape of this carrot. My daughter comes in and sees it, too. Wanting to be in on the joke, she starts laughing too, and says, "That carrot looks like a bladder!". Sensing she's confused, I ask her, "What's a bladder?". She pulls me close and whispers in my ear, "A bladder is a wee-wee."

My sister recently tested positive for Covid, as did my brother and his wife a week before that, and my ex-husband a week before that. My best friend Dan just came down with it, too. Considering I was exposed to 3 of the 4 there while they were positive and symptomatic, I have no idea why I haven't come down with it yet (knock on wood). They are all doing OK, but, they did get pretty sick (fever, etc).

      -

They asked me at work if I would consider tutoring students in science after school on Tuesdays. It's a nice offer, and they certainly don't offer it to everyone. It would look good at work, too, and would be more money. It's only 45 minutes a week and I would get at least $100 a month for it. I think I'm going to do it.

My beautiful Dodge Challenger that I am so happy to have is developing a loud ticking noise (lifters) and would likely take thousands of dollars to fix. I am considering looking at a newer version of it and seeing if they would take mine as a trade in even though it has the loud tick.

I've been okay. Life is same old same old.
Work is alright. Financially I'd like to save some more money. The economy is on a bit of a downturn at the moment so I've lost a bit of money on my portfolio. I expect it to return as the economy recovers but it never feels good losing money, even when it's just on paper.
Weight loss has been going good as well. I started at 105kg 5 months ago and now I am 95kg. I'd like to get down to around 90kg. It's a long bloody process! Otherwise, I feel alright. Life gets boring sometimes.

Small rant: Something that's annoying me lately and which has been an on-going issue for a while, is how frustrating it can be to be just about feel like I'm almost able to do what I want to do, but then not actually do it. Mostly relating to leisure-time creative activity, really.

Like, the will to do the thing is there but something causes me to procrastinate or something. I partly know why this is happening, though I guess the main annoyance comes from the fact that I am unable to change anything about it right now. Makes me wish there was a willpower fixing pill.

Tiny rave: I am getting back into journaling dreams a bit again, both by catching up on old ones here and also by actually writing down even small bits of new dreams at least every other day.
Singled out from some of my favourite quotes from Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri: "Risks of [Planet] flowering: considerable. But rewards of godhood: who can measure? - Usurper Judaa'Maar: Courage: to question."

Rave: I'm happy. I've been spending all of my free time making jewelry, organizing my huge bead collection, and dipping shells in hydrochloric acid to make them beautiful (it's like magic, removes the calcifications and restores original coloring of the shells). I do all this while I listen to my audiobooks (currently, Game of Thrones book 2). It's so relaxing.

Also dream journaling more and more. Work is calming down a bit for me now, so I am trying to focus more on lucid dreaming. Had a couple weak lucids recently, which is more than I've had in a couple months. So that's great.
